To be clear, it's MC20 or Gran Turismo, the rest are rubbish.

Used and that's in USD, right? Insane. Well, definitely not looking for value if going for the Trident.

My client today drove a white 2021 Maserati SUV. I'm going to detail it for her since it was covered in bird crap and dirt.

... The MC20 looks like a major effort were Maserati appears to finally have gotten it together.

My brother in law (not a car guy) has the new 4 door sedan. He really likes the sounds and attention .

He leases it and drives it every day, everywhere.

Leaves it at tbe train station 5 days a week. Zero F given.

It is about 2 years old at this point and so far his only issue is a blowout caused by a pot hole.

It really shouldn't be but the big asterix is I don't give a flying fuck about the "tech". It looks like sex, sounds like sex and the V8 is pretty tried ad true by the time they dropped it in the Gran Turismo. I had it on a very short list as a daily driver alternative to beater/997 but the drop top is some 1,000 lbs more than the 997. Like for the love of god.

The wife really likes the SUV, I think it's horrible.

I think it sounds good and looks ok... but its slow as hell for its class, interior is Ford model T level and is unreliable... all that also creates a terrible resale

Don't know much about them and I don't know what they cost new. However I always see them in my searches when I'm looking for cars and they are cheap! I see them sub $60k even saw the suv the other day for like sub $40k I think. So yeah buying used would probably be a good bet. They have just never appealed to me personally.

I remember a few years back they had a billboard on the highway for the ghibli. It was some lease promo for like $699/mo. Dunno much about leasing but it sounded super cheap at the time. Now that would probably get you a corolla.

I recall test driving a Levante then going to the BMW dealer next door and sitting in the X5. It was like a night and day difference. The Levante (and Ghibli) interiors were dated the day they hit the showrooms. Not to forget that cheap flimsy wiper stalk on Maseratis straight out of the Dodge parts bin. Something you touch multiple times every time you drive the car.

I do like the look of higher spec Levantes. They look cool AF relative to competitors, which are too common and predictable.

It’s more electric niggles on these rather than mechanical problems.

I test drove a gran turismo last year at Scottsdale Maserati, AZ. Came close to buying it but heart was not ready to let go of BMW at the time. Now things are different and I am in a similar position… but leaning towards a ZR1.

Read my comment carefully... IN ITS CLASS... it runs the 1/4 mile just as fast as an X5 M50i... i'll let you determine whether that's fast for what it is...

My X3 is just as fast 0-60 and only 3 mph off in the 1/4 mile... a god damn basic X3 lol

It's not about drag racing... it's about basic street performance for the type of car it is.

Why would someone want a heavy ass GT car that's as fast in a straight line as a middle of the road SUV and doesn't handle well either because it's over 4200 lbs... all while having high maintenance costs and an extremely outdated interior?

Yes i'll give anyone this... it sounds great but so do a lot of cars.

Go down to Miami Beach and stop by all of the cheap exotic rental car spots and tell me what the most common car you see is... i'll give you a hint... the one that is cheapest to obtain used, the crowd that rents it doesn't care about any of the above mentioned because its a maserati and they can cruise down the strip making a ton of noise lol.

It's a such silly metric though, who cares what it can do from a dig? There's more than enough performance, it's not a flat out sports car. Ride/handling/feel are going to be more important. I passed on one as it was too heavy but i don't care if 0-60 is 4 seconds or 5 seconds, makes no difference to me. You guys get way too caught up on numbers. The fact it is naturally aspirated and high revving adds a lot to the experience vs all the high torque, turbo charged droners.

Why not then something like a C7 Grandsport Vette instead then? Because it's a Chevy and not a Maserati lol?

You will have an equally crappy interior... but you will get a car that handles far better, weighs far less, is far faster and cheaper to maintain... oh and you get a loud bellowing 6.0L NA V8... as far as "feel"... it will be better than the Granturismo.

I remember checking them out thinking they were a M3/4 competitor, nope.

The 23/24 models coming out look to be legit if they can fix some of the other issues.

So much experience that you still passed on one. It’s just one metric/part of the story. As an entire package compared to its competitors it doesn’t measure up. They are one of the few manufacturers that can’t sell out there new ones. Someone in another thread posted a link to a used Porsche at a Maserati dealer, they had brand new left over 22s and new 23s at huge discounts already.

If i was going to take a chance on an Italian it would be an Alfa Romeo. Seems to be much better dynamically and a better overall package. I know most don’t care about this anymore and that is how Maserati is barely hanging on with there models that aren’t the MC20.

If I was to stay safe but wanted a N/A V8 sedan/coupe it would be one of the Lexus models. At least the build quality and reliability is top notch there.
