I’ve read some threads, perception of improved power seems not unheard of but there’s no specific info.

In the end I bought the charger I could get hold of during lockdown, aka a Halfords special. It’s not amazing but it’s getting the job done. Turns out everyone I know needs the thing.
I am not sure about a restoration of power but maybe you just forgot how quick it was
Agree with oneextra Re this.... prob a placebo affect..... keep it trickle charged, can't do any harm. My battery is in good order but I put the trickle charge on it Thursday (won't be driving it for a few days) and it's taken until fri am to be fully charged! If these cars aren't being driven for any length of time regularly then PUT it on trickle to avoid ANY issues Re weakening battery's....

Yes...probably.

I’ve never seen a car with such a Jekyll and Hyde character. I spend so long driving 1500rpm in soft mode I forget what the car is when you dial it up.

Do you connect over battery or to jump posts under bonnet?

To trickle charge you MUST connect to the points under the bonnet.... if you connect direct to the battery I believe it can damage it......

Yep that could be tricky..... my charger is small and fits in a compartment at back of engine bay so bonnet can be closed (photo) I know some older versions are large and wouldn't be able to do this..... but you would have a wire running to your power supply on show regardless of charger size...

You would need to run an extension lead from the house to the car

Received my Ctek 5.0 today and that cubby hole where you put yours is exactly where I've placed mine! AGM and car setting and it's going through all the stages.

I fastened mine to the wall in front of the car and next to a plug, just run the cables under the bonnet, been sat there 3 weeks and not moved. Think a trip to the shops tonight to give it a run.

How long are the cables from charger to clips? OneExtra's idea sounds good, keep it all inside and just run the jump clips outside

Not to worry just seen the Noco ones are nearly 3m in length from charger. This should be enough to reach to my car

Charger type

Hi peeps.

I see that the Ctex 5.0 has been mentioned. Any recommendations for a suitable trickle charger?

Not been doing much driving so I may have to look into this.

Thx

I’ve just brought a Noco Genius 10, waiting for the extension cable before fitting as my cars parked on the drive

Hi guys,

I have been using the recommended CTEK which does the job. We are away for 2 weeks in August.

Any thoughts on leaving connected and switched on while away for 2 weeks? Does anybody else do this? Didn't know if people left it switched on an unattended.

Thx

Yes, no problem to leave Ctek connected continuously.

I hardly charge my battery now with the Ctek 5.0.
A good pointer is when stop/start doesn't kick in then its time to charge but it's working all the time now so no need to connect. The ctek 5.0 not only maintains your battery it keeps it working like new for longer.

Thanks Guys.

Appreciate it can stay connected for an extended amount of time, although it will be left alone for 2 weeks, so wanted to make sure
