i introduced my new-to-me f10 m5 to my outgoing f80 m3. as far as i can tell, i am the only person in north america with a singapore grey in each vintage in their garage (not for long, sadly).

i've owned my m5 for a a few weeks now and have done:
- dinan sways
- bmc filter w/ charcoal delete
- iND package
- bimmercode
- led interior lights

anyway, hi.

So, this afternoon I plugged in the USB stick with the latest map. The USB stick was recognised and I was correctly informed that the USB contained a newer map than the current one and I was asked if I wanted to update. I confirmed and watched how the car slowly pulled in the new files. And after one hour the car informed that the map had been updated.

I was never asked for an FSC code.

Did I really spend all this time trying to figure out how to get E-Sys running and generate an FSC code? I didn't need one.

Anyways, that's what I did to my M5 today. Much needed.
maybe the previous owner created a lifetime code.

The blackout and reboot repeated itself at least 10 times with fragments of map view in between. I had the following message a couple of times: "Unable to calculate destination".

And then the rebooting stopped. The map view stabled itself. Everything was back to normal. But all my previous settings are gone as well as all my previous destinations.

The previous map version was 2013, which was in the car when new.
I was thinking of updating but find my sat-nav still works fine.
The speed limit indicator has become slow of late yesterday showing 60 in a 30 zone.

Ok then it should have been the first update. Maybe you should check your control units for updates. I don't know the problem

Well I haven't posted in here in a bit so here is an update.

Finally decided pulled the trigger on getting some aftermarket intakes. Went with a set of project gamma intakes, and I love having them on there. The turbo noise and the increased mid range punch is immense and I'm very happy with them!.

Got a detail done by a friend of mine and it turned out great, the only downside was I was so blown away by how good the outside of the car looked that I forgot to snap some pics, but I have a picture of the engine bay from later in the day when I did my sparkplugs. (added the picture from the day I did the intakes as a before photo to show how dirty it was to how clean it got)

Speaking of sparkplugs what a pain, the third one in on the drivers side bank and the fourth on the passenger side bank were a huge pain, but it was the first set of sparkplugs ive ever changed by myself and all in all it was worth it, definitely will do it again myself. Oh and I definitely will unhook the battery next time I do it...

I'm planning on changing my plugs soon, I wanted to ask did you blow the spark plug enclosures with compressed air before you removed them,is there any real need to do this.

I did not mainly because I don't have a compressor to do so. Its not a bad idea to do it if you have the capability to do so because it prevents any contaminates that sit there from falling into the combustion chamber, but for most people there isn't very much if anything at all in the housing to worry about. maybe shine a light into the easier ones to reach and decide for yourself.

Her 1st wash after the last mods and a bunch of rain. I got the wheels refinished, calipers powder coated, new OEM floating center caps, m wheel badge, new Michelin PSS and 12mm H&R Spacers all around

Official wheel color is CNC Tinted Gun Metal. The grey part is Wet Charcoal

Calipers powder coated Estoril Blue with Black M badge.

I now know how she's supposed to really feel. OMG!! These pictures don't do the color any justice. It looks amazing in person.

Whooah, is that a suction cup bike rack?? I've been trying to figure out how the heck to take my bike up north with this thing. Last time I took the bike completely apart and put it in the trunk, with the luggage in the back seat. I'm gonna have to look into this!

I like what you've done with the wheels Cylenterok - that colour/shade works really well with the Singapore Grey body colour.
