Treat For The Wife

Vic, never owned a Merc will try and test this out if they take my offer. Looked at the Macan and this is more bang for the buck and not a million of them on the road. The 4.3 was the right car for her, but hell I will drive it from time to time so went with the 6.3(: Shhhhhhh

I had a ML63 = GLE63. The sound was great and the interior (leather was nice). I hated the electronics, and it was terrible in the snow even with good dedicated snow tires. The coupe version might drive a little better than the straight SUV. I will say that the ML63 attracted more attention than any other car I have owned (991 TT, M3, M5, X5M etc.) so there is that.

The chassis for the GLE has been updated, you will need to test drive it to see how you personally like it. From a visual standpoint I find it to be a much more aggressive looking car than the departed ML.

The GLE still runs the dated M157 engine which is great but replaced in the more modern models (C63S, E63S, GTS, GTR) with the M177/M178 engines and the 4.0 displacement. The Hot V in the M177/178 cars have tremendous throttle response for a turbo car. I have a feeling you will like the grunt enginewise/exhaust, torque, exterior looks, and interior but will possibly think the car will fall short from a drive feel perspective. But remember the weight you are dealing with along with the chassis and its suspension parts.

Benz has the lead in my car ownership over the past years:

Benz 11
BMW 08
Porsche 08
Audi 04

This is just the Germans. The BMW number will jump soon as Im interested in the CE F90 M5.

Vic, man this GLC is a GEM and a beast. It handles well for a heavy vehicle, and it looks the business in person. Options are great and the sound is amazing .....it runs rings around the Macan. Sucks it’s the wife’s car.

I sold my wife's Escalade for Lexus LX570. Patiently waiting for the new gen GLS63. TBH, I never cared for the Escalade, just bought it because of the size.

Hey Vic. How are you enjoying the GTS? I've been on the list for GT3 for a year and I don't think it's happening. I may get GTS for now and get something exotic a little later.

Im having a blast with it... its an interesting segway from a normal 991.2 C2S and a GT3 because it puts up GT3 like numbers on the street and track but is a better daily, IMHO, because of the tq delivery.

I have had 5 Turbo or Turbo S cars from a 993 to a 991.1 and this car, while slower just feels more connected. Maybe because of the weight but its a brilliant daily driver with so much grip for a rwd system married with rear wheel steering. The chassis response along with the damper and spring combo just sucks up uneven roads much like my 991.1 Turbo S's and even my 991.1 GT3. Its right up with my old GT3 as the best launching RWD car. Porsche just does it right and even though they are priced heavily, to me, its worth it.

I have modded it, which probably adds to the fun factor, with high flow cats and a tune but its was great out of the box too. The exhaust is much better with HFC's even though the OEM PSE does a pretty good job on the 3.0 turbo engine. Its definitely a keeper for me right now and will probably exceed my allowable half life for cars. Also with the GTS's in a more limited supply the car will hold its value better (not that Ive ever bought a car for an monetary investment).

As shocking as the GT2RS is with this time, you gotta applaud a little 450 hp car like the GTS:
