Sunroof issue
Anyone else have a problem where the sunroof will not auto open/close. I have to hold the button the entire time. Manual says there are two levels to the button (just like auto windows), but neither work.

Try this, it worked for me.
Make sure the engine is on. Push in the sunroof button and hold it in for 15 secs, the sunroof will slide open and slide closed. After this your sunroof have reset itself and you should have the auto open and close. |

I have a slightly annoying problem in that when I press the fob to close the doors and fold the side mirrors the sun roof cover also partially closes. This is annoying. Will the above reset work?

Happens when you disconnect the battery for anything. Need to run the adaptation cycle via ISTA.
I have heard you can just hold down the button for 20s and it does it... never worked for me. |

Just tried this, need to hold the vent button for 20s or so, then once it pops in the vent position release the button and press and hold again for 20s or so. During the second hold, the sunroof will go open fully and close. Once closed the rest has been complete

I am having the same problem after replacing the battery.
Kudos to the poster on reset cycle, but it didnt “completely” restore previous functiinality. While the 20-second hold did fix the glass auto-open and close when the shade is open, it does not auto-open or close the shade itself. For 5 years both were auto-open and close sequences but no more. Any suggestion? |

Full initialization without computer
You guys really should read up the instructions for reinitializing the sunroof in TIS:
https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...nroof/1LMfmNXx You press the lift button to raise the vent an then keep holding it for 30 seconds until the initialization routine begins. Then KEEP holding the lift button pushed until it is done. It will open and close the shade, open and close the glass. Keep holding it until it finally stops moving. If you let go at any time you will have to start over. If you owned a older BMW you may be thinking of the simpler window and sunroof procedures but that isn't the case here. Also your supposed to do it when the roof is warm but not in the sun and with a full battery, because a lot of this is really about memorizing the current draw so it can sense obstructions, pinching, jams. Given this is wintertime I guess you just do what you can. |

Just dug this out from the archives after collecting an F10 M5 the other day. Saved me a trip to the dealers, my roof wasn't tilting at all and would only open all the way if I kept my finger on the button until it was all the way open. Thanks to above, all perfect now, cheers.
