Indicator module (new one require coding)

I have a error message

Turn indicator front left failure, i have a new indicator module need to access it through the wheel well removing the splash guard cover..

Some say it could be water ingress or could be damp, so i will try to dry it 1st.

Anyone else had this issue?

Sometimes there is no error message and the indicator works fine however when the error message does appear the front left indicator stops working and the rear/side still work but blink/flash fast.

If i change the module do i need to re code it?

Bmw part no 63117271901 quick google and you will know what module i am looking at changing.
