Ferrari Portofino Unveiled in Austin

The grand opening of the new dealership was tonight and I was invited. They had a new Portofino there and I got videos. I took one and put it on you tube and my daughter did one on facebook. Here they are. Mine isn't oriented correctly but the sound of the car is the key. Hope you guys like it.

Thanks William, hope all is well.

It reminds me of a baby F12.

Yes. It's definitely different and better. Lot's of people have made the same comment about the f12 look Vic. It's a left handed compliment to it IMO. I may move up except I am leery of getting the new model in the first year of existence.

I am at the Ferrari Challenge this weekend and there are owner lap sessions tomorrow afternoon. That will be the first time I get the Cali T out on the track.
I am looking forward to that.

I really like the styling of this one.

With the California it looked like a Hard top convertible with the roof up. The lines were not quite right.

With the Portofino with the roof up it looks like a Ferrari Coupe. It also looks a lot lower and the hood is more raked like other Ferrari's. The design is flawless. It really looks like a Ferrari.

Beautiful car.

IDK, but I think the California T looks more like a Ferrari than the Portofino.

Those front headlights on the Portofino are 458 looking, but it just looks a bit off. Will have to see the car in person though.

I was hoping it would stay but it's apparently only in the states for some dealer displays. It left the very next day, wasn't even at the Ferrari Challenge for the weekend. The dealer is supposed to get a demo in May. I plan on driving it.

Nice! Definite reminder of the Berlinetta! I'd like to see it in red or yellow

Almost everything you wanted to know about the Portofino. Incredible car. Wish BMW would put a flat-plane V8 in the M5. That sound!

Ferrari proves that turbo engines can sound good.

So we got to test drive the Portofino yesterday and it's definitely a step up from the Cali T and it's a little larger in the cockpit. We tested it on a lot of twistys that I frequently drive so I can make a direct comparison. The steering wheel is smaller and I don't like that but the car sounds great. It is a throatier sound than the Cali T HS but it has the same shift speed and it barks on upshifts and blips on downshifts. Doesn't sound as good as the 488 at speed but it's not supposed to. I think it certainly sounds better than the regular Cali T and maybe only 5% better than the T HS. The lower rpms are throatier for the Portofino.

I pushed it in a couple of turns and the back end slipped out quicker than I would have expected. I checked the tires on the car when we got back and they had decent tread but I am fairly sure that the wear affected the grip in the corner. The acceleration is noticeably quicker than the Cali T HS but not nearly what the 488 has. This isn't comparable to the 488 but it's certainly better than the Cali T. The seats are comfy and there is more room in the cockpit than the Cali T and of course than the 488. I am not a real fan of the on-screen seat adjustments but it does have an extra feature on the seat adjustment that will extend the front edge for more knee support on longer drives. My M5 had that and it was a nice feature.

My wife loved driving it and she liked the car a lot. She wouldn't say no to having one. Note the grin.
