How many M5's on UK Roads

I am bored so trawling the internet for anything car related, below is the number of F10 M5's on UK roads

M5 Competition Package - 123 with 7 SORN

M5 Standard - 1,900 with 1,100 SORN

M5 Auto - 3,200 with 153 SORN

M5 Jahre - 24 with 4 SORN

M5 Competition Edition Edition - 18 with 1 SORN

Interestingly it looks like the Competition Package is only on 2.3% of M5s available which makes them a lot more rare. Its also a bit worrying how many M5s are SORN, possibly dealers not taxing them.

It would mean 3000 in total with 1100 SORN

Seems an awful lot off the road.... reasons can only be on forecourts/dealerships/trade plates, that aren't taxed.... Accident damaged awaiting repairs..... In storage...... or garaged not being used..... : why else wouldn't they be taxed??? Or classed as off the road.

Interesting ... there’s only about 200 on autotrader and eBay combined.

There seem a higher proportion of comps on sale, when compared to the percentage above. The % above suggests you should hardly ever see them

Shame we never saw a manual.

I’ve tried out the math of a winter sorn, say 4 months. I like the idea but my experience hasn’t been 100% that the car is awful in winter, I actually found it really safe and comfortable.

I assume I would save 1/3 of the tax, say 190
Personally I would save 110 insurance, but the policy might have a penalty reducing that.
Reduce m5 mileage, fuel and wear and tear for 4 months. Probably a good few quid but I would have the costs on an alternate transport.
I assume I can’t delete the warranty because if I restarted 4 months later it would be a 1500 warranty vs a 800 track record warranty.
Am I missing anything?

I suppose it depends if the M5 is a toy or a working car. If I laid mine up I would create inconvenience by depending on other cars. Weirdly I’ve tried to insure various sub 1500k granny hatchbacks (which make sense vs sorn m5) and the insurance is coming out higher than the m5.

I also thought about it but in the end I decided it was an M5 from 2016 not an Aston Martin from 1956.

New cars dont need to be protected like older ones do or cars in the £150K+ category

Its all relative, mine is "SORNED" Nov-April. Partly due to the larger amounts of snow we receive over here and Winter tires being a legal requirement from 1st Dec to the 31st March. In the northern parts its wise to keep your winter tires on till May. That's not to say I haven't driven M Cars in the Winter.....the E61 did quite well, but the diff in torque might make the F10 a little harder to handle.

I usually don’t but was considering this time as the car wasn’t being used at all, and I have my x5 running winters so easy to get to work in,m. Especially when running late and having to use the country road with loads of pot holes, already cracked a rear summer x5 wheel

That Volvo is a good looking car. Is that the new xc70? I suspect I’ll get one of those after the M5.

Mind you if you fellas pull up next to me in your M5s at the lights when I’m in my Volvo it will be like this:

Its a V60 Cross Country D4 Momentum Business Edition.

Basically safe tank with 4wd and high diesel consumption.

Don’t knock volvos, the M5 is amazing 25% of the time, those big boxy volvos are useful 75% of the time.
