EDC delete: can I just replace with a 100w 2.5ohm?

One of my EDC delete modules appears to have died. Instead of spending ~$100 on a replacement from KW, is there any reason I can't just get a 100w 2.5ohm* resistor at $8 for 2 off Amazon and use that? I'm not sure if I'm missing something.



*Per KW, the spec on these is 2.56ohm +/- 0.5.

well I've replaced the dead one with said 100w 2.5ohm. light is off but it does get quite hot. not sure how hot the other one got as I never touched it, though.

did it ever burn to the ground? i'm about to build my own.

It worked, but eventually died. If I did it again I'd have attached it to the car with double-sided heat transfer tape in an attempt to keep it cooler. Possibly could try two 100w 5ohms in parallel, but I'm not an electrical engineer.

Something else I've wondered is whether having the suspension set to comfort, sport, or sport+ makes a difference in longevity.
