21 inch vorsteiners with 325s on :) - Newer photos

It’s been a little bit of a journey getting this project completed, and lessons learned if I do it again!
I bought a set of the sport forged VSF-001s in 21x9.5 and 21x11 from Golan at auto talent, but all he had in stock was silver, and I wanted gloss black or a dark gray, so off to the powder coater they went! $400 later, gloss black perfection and the ordering of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S 325/25/21s and 275/30/21s! Wheels get installed and there’s a nasty rub out back Apparently the sport forged come in a more aggressive offset than the standard vorsteiners that I’ve seen people slap 325s on no problem, even on a competition like mine. I found a local machine shop with experience in wheels, and he was able to machine off 5mm for me, which yielded a perfect fitment with zero rubbing! And before everyone gets up in arms, there is zero issue with machining 5mm of material off a quality wheel, and there is plenty left.

Looks like your new black grills didn’t come with the emblem holder. So I’m not so sure you can put an emblem on there.

Those wheels look like a tight fit! They look nice. Did you have to get new lug hole inserts after the shaving?

You have to have original grille for the badge and wanted to ask what is the ride like with that wheel and tyre combo compared with the standard set up.

Badgeless it is then! Negative on the inserts, there is generally enough meat on any quality wheels to take up to 5mm off without any issues, but it isn't recommended on cheaper cast wheels. The Vorsteiners had plenty left so it won't be an issue.

Its a competition so its a bit rough in factory form, but going from 20 to 21 I really didn't notice a ton of difference. The roads here aren't that bad, but even when I hit a larger bump or on broken surfaces, it isn't bad for me. Its not as soft as my 550i was, but nowhere near as rough as my M3 was... very tolerable.

Those 325's should give you some serious pulls on take off.

Looks good FenixMike. And that's a huge rear tyre! :-)

Out of interest, what suspension are you running? Is it adjustable for height? If so, I would look at either raising the rear end a little or bringing down the front slightly to deal with the slight negative rake.

The photos are deceiving. When the rear parking brake is set, it keeps the suspension loaded and looks lower. Looks perfect in person and its factory competition suspension with identical tire heights.
