343m wheels bent and cracked

So i recently had to have both front wheels and one rear wheel seriously repaired. They all had multiple cracks on the inside barrel and were all no longer round.

I've never hit a curb and in AZ we dont really have curbs. No potholes and overall pretty smooth roads. Anyone experience issues with their wheels?

That's odd b/c 343M's are forged and tougher than the other 601M cast wheels which are more susceptible to damage.

Yeah, it is a bit frustrating. Not sure what caused this to happen, but $600 later and all look/feel brand new

I would not drive on welded wheels. Replace them.

There are LOTS of replica 343’s out there that are garbage Chinese cast wheels. Possible the previous owner cheaped out and slapped a pair on your car. Never heard of the authentic forged 343’s having this issue.

forged wheels will not get damage easily like this, very hard, maybe you have cast wheels

I am the 2nd owner and i boughtnit right before factory warranty ended so i dont think the previous owner replaced the wheels. Wpuldnt BMW be on the hook under 50k miles if they had an issue?

Would be hard to argue that warranty should cover the wheel unless one can prove that there was some kind of design or manufacturing issue. Otherwise, it would most likely be blamed on use. Bottom line is you don't really know what the 1st owner did to the car/wheels for 50k miles. Also, these are made by BBS I think, so not just any random forged wheel. They are properly engineered. They shouldn't just crack without impact. Finally, you should be able to see BMW markings stamped on the inside if you want to be sure you have the OE wheels.

Very possible they are replacements. I will have to check next time its on the lift, but i am pretty confident these are the original wheels.

BMW, firestone, and both independent BMW shops all stated that cracked wheels were very normal. BMW and the shop that eneded up having the wheels repaired used the same company who was regularly at both to repair wheels.

Those were never made by BBS, I need to go back and check but was by another company. I do agreed that either previous owner trashed them or those are replica that previous owner put when selling the car

Here it go, from a forum member back when that was discussed

Interesting. I have seen other posts reference BBS. There is also stuff like this out there: https://jualbeli.modifikasi.com/kaki-kaki/velg/velg-bbs-oem-bmw-m5-20x9-10-original-style-343m/218412/img1

So which one is it? I wonder if there may have bern multiple vendors.

Also the Fuchs link you provided doesn't return any content other than their contact info for me.

I am pretty confident those weren't made by BBS, this is some re-seller. I have mine off the car and took a picture for you , as you can see the logo on the inside match with that for Fuchs. I noticed the link now is broken but you can go to their website and see in the samples the BMW wheels.

I have been running 343 wheels on my F10 535i for about 40k miles now and bought them with about 25k miles on them and had a hairline crack in one of the rear wheels as well. The crack was really small and was causing a slow leak. I had it welded and it has been fine for almost 2 years now. NYC roads are absolute crap, so now doubt my wheels have had a few tough impacts.
