Soft close door question!!!!!!!

Soft close door broken, doesn't work and make loud noise when door close. If I don't want to replace it, can I try to disconnect the unit or just remove the part? Thank you!!!

Coincidentally I had the same problem crop up a few weeks back. Loud noise started happening every time I closed the door. Last weekend I removed the door panel and disconnected the power to the motor. You have to pull open the vapor barrier and reach down in blindly to the motor which is situated below the door latch components.

Eventually I'll buy a new assembly but for now it's quiet. The door latch will always function normally by the way.

Mine just went out, sounded like the door was eating itself...did this, worked perfect. There are 3 nuts holding it in place, I removed them and looked at the harness so I knew what I was working with, tucked the harness in behind the motor as I reattached it so it would stay in place. May not even replace the thing, though it seems pretty easy if I decide to do so.

Actually semi tempted to do it around the whole car since I can't seem to get people to stop slamming the doors...

I replaced my rear right door actuator recently. Bought a second-hand part from ebay, I think it came out of a 7 series. Really easy to do, took me about an hr and a half. Let me know if you need any more info.
