Scott26 has said the next 2er is going to have the bigger/longer grilles, but not as extreme as the new 4er. I'm hoping it will be like the 3.0 CSL Homage Concept.

This is being different without destroying the design. Not the current G80 garbage.

Not sure why they couldn't do this with the G80

I agree. This isn't bad. The new 4 is just god awful. I just saw an ad for it and BMW only show the back 3/4 view. Hahahah

Looking forward to an M2 with and S58 and 6MT.

Looks bigger than the old one so not the same size as the e46m3 which was one of the bonuses of the old one that it had the same wheel base as the e46

What's wrong with the F22 build quality? I had an M240i for 3 years and I never had a single complaint about build quality.

less ugly but still ugly. why. why bmw? Did the company never hear of focus groups?

On a wide, low car a tall grill looks ugly and makes the car look ungainly. If BMW designers feel a need to stretch the grill, stretch it horizontally, not vertically. The current Merc grills are so much nicer.

Particularly interior and trim quality, use of materials such as harder plastics and attention to details when compared to say a 3 series.

The M2/M2C does have more hard plastic, but the quality of the materials are superb. Fit and finish is as good as any BMW sold today.

Really my only concern about the G87 is if they can keep the weight reasonable, and if carbon buckets will be available.

Everything else should be one step up from the current M2C, which is a legendary car as far as I'm concerned. Steering will evolve, interior will be on par with 3 series/X3 which is a big jump, S58 with 6MT will be a known quantity from the M3/4.

If this ends up being the last 3 pedal M car, I have almost no choice but to make room for one

It's kinda interesting and depends on perspective...having taken a "step down" from a couple 3 series to the M2, I definitely agree the interior feels a bit cheap, or at least lacking some luxury. But my wife, who's DD is a 4 runner, and other friends look at the interior and think it's really nice.

At any rate, it makes no difference to me. It's nice enough for my tastes without being over the top. I wasn't looking for fancy, just some basic creature comforts and a car that was fun as hell to drive.

The G87 M2 will be over 3,500 pounds, not under.

I could look at that all day.

I am quite disappointed with the amount of weight gain but guess there isn't much Markus Flasch's team can do as they are constrained by the inherent footprint of the G20/22 chassis

I am resting my hope on the G87 M2
I hear you, at least give us an analogue rpm centered to the driver flanked by digital displays. Kinda like Porsche, minus the different pods for each display

The Supra would have sold well had it been a 2+2. 2+2 allows for more legroom in the front and the capability for front seats to recline further back making car more usable. They really messed up by not making the Supra a 2+2

I'm very surprised to hear that people have this opinion. I had an F32 before my F22 and the build quality and amount/type/feel of plastics seemed exactly the same to me. F22/F30/F32 interiors are basically the same anyways, the center console design is just a touch narrower on the F22.
