Remote control not detected .... Help

I recently had my emergency break switch replaced under warranty. Since that day, I get this error message all the time. It doesn't affect starting the car nor driving. However, anytime one of the doors are opened/closed it comes up.

I've read that the center control has a sensor that senses the key in addition to the steering Column. Can anyone verify this? Dealer thinks it's a coincidence and the remote is the issue however I've changed the batteries in both remotes and tried both on separate occasions with the same results.

I think when they removed the center console they damaged the sensor or did not properly connect it.

Thoughts?

Yes, they short circuited something in the center console. I once tried to replace the bulb in the center console and accidentally touched something in there with a screw driver. Saw a spark and this error message came in. After that, I had to put the remote control next to the steering column to start the car. When I took it to the BMW dealer, they told me something was burnt inside the console. It costed me $1,600 to fix it.

Sounds like they really did use an emergency BREAK switch. Good luck.

Haha agreed ... What sucks is the dealer keeps saying it has nothing to do with the change out however, the issue happened the minute I started the car after the change out at the dealer. It was a Sunday and they were closed so not much I could do. Called them the following day.

Maybe they missed a procedure during the service such as re-teaching the ECU with new sensor/part. It happened to me when they replaced the back up camera and I got another error message. Went back to the dealer and they performed software update.

I do received the same error message whenever I leave the keys in the door console and try to start the car,I think your car is fine.

I'd have to disagree. I've had this car for over a year and my key is always in the cup holder when I start it. This started happening immediately after the switch change out.

The only time I have seen this prior is when I started the car and walked away with the key. Minute I come back it disappears. This is very different.

I agree. Something is wrong and not a misplacement of the key.
