ZCP comp package, worth it??

So looking at 2 models, 2016
11k miles, Sakhir orange : $56k
31k miles, white with red interior and comp pkg : $49k

Both have the exec pkg, B&O, Driver assist

I know comp pkg get you lowered springs and apparently better handling, aside from the visual looks of lowered height can you really notice the better suspension?

sports exhaust (is it really better than standard exhaust or is it just nicer tips??)

A bit more hp but 15hp is nothing really.

Thoughts ?

Can you send links to these cars you are comparing? That would help. At face value, I think a Competition Package is worth it. But, if you are truly narrowing decision between these 2 cars then it's helpful to understand the contrast between them to offer more than a face-value opinion.

Depends on your goals. If you plan to tune, then the extra 15HP goes out the door. Adding DINAN says improves the non comp suspension. I liked it better over comp. as for exhaust, It's easy to mod and make it sound better. I'd prefer the 11k car is its well maintained over the higher mileage and 6k more.

Wife is also thinking the red interior on the white comp car is too much, a little too "eighties", I'm thinking resale could be an issue with such a dramatic interior, on the other hand is the sahkir Orange could also be risky for resale as it could be a polarizing color? I'm leaning towards the orange as 11 k miles is like a new car

First off, both are great looking cars and both have in-service dates of Aug 2016 so there are 3 months of BMW factory warranty on each still. Funny, my wife had the same initial reaction when I first showed her the Sakhir Orange interior.. so I can appreciate. I do get a lot of compliments on it though and my wife has grown to like it. Personally, in this case I like the Sakhir Orange car. Looks to be in excellent condition. Very low miles. Not a color you see everyday and it looks brilliant under sunlight.

Despite what ad says the interior is almost certainly orange. No red interior offered as far as I remember. It's very loud.

If it had to be one of those two, I'd probably go the Sakhir Orange (and I'm a bit of a 'white car' guy).

I don't mind red interiors, but probably not with the white exterior on something like an M5 (may work better on other more 'sporting'/exotic cars).

Worth mentioning that the front brakes look pretty cooked on the Sakhir Orange car so you'd want to get that checked out before committing as they cost a few dollars to replace...

The CP is definitely a bit of a different animal! In addition to what folks mentioned, the dsc is dialed in a bit more aggressive too

Sakhir is like the Indy Red on the e60....rare unicorn. I settled for Silverstone II but Sakhir was my true target.

I recently went searching for a competition model exclusively. I bought a 2105 Comp for the enhanced handling and lowered stance. Living in the mountains of Tennessee I wanted the handling to be great without immediately spending money on mods. The exhaust sounds awesome in sport+.

I have Sakhir orange with black interior and it's great. As is hinted at above, it's ridiculously good looking in sunlight, it's much more unique/rare, and black is the only interior you'd want with it (imo).

I'll also say that if you've only seen SO in pictures, it is a particularly hard color to accurately capture. The pictures in your link make it look almost pumpkin orange, which isn't very representative. This is about as close as an accurate representation as a picture will do, but it still doesn't get it. It has a lot of depth and in sun at certain angles it picks up some blues and purples, which really make the red-ish orange pop. It's particularly noticeable in the "shadows" of the lines on the hood, the curves of the door panels, etc.

Check out this thread. Only 244 SO M5 produced for NA market. As compared to 1,647 in Alpine White.

Didn't get it, dealer is firm on 56500, which is too high so I'll wait it out, they've had the car since nov, this dealership is one of those "no hassle" pricing places where they won't negotiate , problem is they price high relative to market, especially now when I believe the used car market will slow due to covid and new cars offering amazing incentives. These guys are very stubborn about the price point and when I factor I'd have to throw in an extended warranty for around $3-$5k then we're talking too much money for an older gen. Another option I'm considering is a lease takeover for an F90 for around $1000-$1200, I usually keep cars no mo than a year or two so that could be a better option. F90 interior is way nicer and its faster too, plus factory warranty.

Only challenge with F90 is you can expect a steeper depreciation than the F10.

Good luck with your search. Lease takeovers can be good, especially if you are looking at cars at dealerships, you'll save on taxes for the lease vs. purchase.

Best regards,
Dave

I agree that price is too high. You made the right call walking. Good luck with the continued hunt.

If all of us owners were as firm on the price as the dealer when selling then our M's would hold the value more. These are sought after cars and people have got to pay if they want these.
Be that as it may... that price was on high side.

I'd say the Comp Package is worth it 100%. There is absolutely nothing, zero, zilch, nada that the F10 M5 needs beyond that.

The ride height and wheel gaps are perfect IMO, leaving plenty of travel for hard backroad drives, the suspension is spot-on and the power leaves nothing to be desired. Stock power is obviously enough too, but the lower ride height and suspension tuning are perfection. I haven't driven a standard car hard so I can't compare, but whatever BMW did to edit the differential programming works wonders. The diff is magic. This can, when driven hard, shrink the car in an unbelievable way, and feels just like a big E90.

My plan is to drive and enjoy it just as BMW designed and intended it to be and maintain it to the best of my ability.
