DSS Axle Removal and Install
Guys, I threw a video on YouTube because I couldn't find one to remove and replace the Axles. I upgraded to DSS after I snapped mine and after I already had them removed I decided to do a video because there was no way I was going to do it the way ISTAD said to. Maybe I was wrong in doing so, but I figured out a way and thought since I couldn't find a video I would post one. Hope its informative and helps someone

Thanks for the video. I just purchased a BM3 tune and will be adding downpipes. Did you just have the tune minus downpipes and you broke your axles? Was is it due to a lot to launches? I heard 91-93 ots tunes alone shouldn’t cause this.

I actually have the OTS 93 Stg2 and fabworks DP’s. Just broke them on a launch at the track. Got to be careful wif you have a tune, no hard launches on stock axles. At least that’s my experience. And I only launched the car maybe 5 times

Aye scary! How were you launching? Launch control? I was just gonna slam the gas down at the track once the tree hit the 1 set of yellows!

Launch control is useless. If you're using mt streets then you'll break the axle. If you're on regular tires and you spin off the line then you'll most likely be ok. I did quite a few runs at the track with nittos nt05 and was fine. Once I put on the mt streets I snapped the left side axle on the 4th run.

Great write up and video! Just a little curious on how to removed the axles from the diff itself? Didn't quite see that in the video you posted! Do I just pull on the stock axle with all my might and they snap right out? or is there a special process?

You need to put a flat screw driver to pry it out. There's a snap ring in the diff that holds the shafts in place.

i just used a prybar inserted against the bell housing of the axle closest to the diff. Take a piece of wood block to use it as leverage for the prying the axle off. You will have to bounce the prybar a little bit or maybe even a lot. I'm not a professional mechanic so do it at your own risk, but at least that's the way it worked for me.

Great video; I sincerely appreciate the knowledge share.
Anyone have any long term use feedback on these?
