I wouldn't have pulled the Bottom end or even the heads before making sure I was doing everything right. In fact I wouldn't have even pulled the engine to begin with. You must have plenty of time on your hands and money to throw at it with new gaskets etc.

From my point of view I'm glad you removed it showing the split block and what it all looks like; As you own your own garage you have the luxury of taking your time making sure everything is as it should and giving us an inside view of that great engine,for sure it will be better than new once put back together.
