I dont think its mechanically possible in the ZF transmission but its definitely impressive for a traditional tq converting tranny. I rarely can tell the difference in my RS7 and R8 (ZF vs DCT).

I mentioned this in the other thread about the acceleration on the F90 forums...

From what I can tell (again this is all an assumption) is that when in Launch Control upshifts happen automatically even in manual mode, so what the driver did was upshift RIGHT after the car automatically upshifted into 2nd, so thats when it went to 3rd quickly, then hit the paddle again so it went to 4th. From my eye he only hit the paddle twice even though his finger gestures look like he hit it more than twice. Basically replay the video and keep your eye on the actual paddle movement, he only shifts twice despite being in 4th gear.

He mentioned in another thread to show how fast the new ZF transmission can change the gear.... 0-100 m/h is not achieved with this skipping BTW.

I am more curious about tire sizes for this generation,

If guys are able to start fitting 18s or able to run a slick and not just an R888 drag tire, it really could change the equation on 1/4 times for the car, especially if the 2WD can handle doing burnouts with no harm to the car, then throwing it back in 4WD.

Very excited for the guys who will get their hands on the car first.

Don't think so, launch control program auto shifts at that point. If you watch the video from the exhaust videos, that's where the car shifts itself when in launch control mode (around 6k rpm)

In any event, stupid video showing acceleration, hopefully we'll get some press car reviews near the end of this month.

even if it is auto shifting at 5500ish thats still hella short shift logic for a twin turbo V8, let that thing eat till 6.5-7k+ lol no point shorting it like that either as a driver or programing it. Man was in 3rd gear at 37mph

Yeah I complained about this too, the short ratios

M5 even has a higher final drive than the M550i for some reason. It's like they purpose built this car for 0-60 times when nobody actually cares about that stuff.

E motor gives instant power that's hard to match. M5 probably need a hybrid powertrain to compete 0-60.
