What’s Missing On This 2016 M5? 37k miles, $58K, CPO

2010 335i owner here. Had the 335i since 2009. Going to trade it for an M5 (unless it’s a huge mistake).

https://www.bmwofaustin.com/details-...1gg343210.html

Does this M5 have everything an enthusiast would want or is it missing some options people universally like? I remember wishing I got M-Sport on my 335.

Most importantly, how’s the price?

Below are the options. It looks like it’s only missing the competition package?

2MKTRANSMISSION: 7-SPEED M DOUBLE-CLUTCH W/DRIVELOGIC
ZDB DRIVER ASSISTANCE
ZEC EXECUTIVE PACKAGE
6F2 BANG & OLUFSEN SOUND SYSTEM

non comp pack and the price seems a bit high to me. Personally, comp pack was a must have as I didn't want to mess w/ suspension and exhaust (still planning down pipes though haha).

Is the competition package universally loved? What is really the draw of it?

Would $54K be reasonable?

Just for reference, I paid $57,000 for mine with 15,000 miles, CCBs, Competition Package, and all other options.

$57K driveout?

When/where did you buy it? Maybe this one is worth more like $52K.

I’m ok with 19s, but I kind of dislike this wheel’s style.

Basic wheels and no Comp Pack as stated above. Personally the 19" wheels look awful.

For those without Comp Packs they say its not that much difference but if you have it you would not trade down.

Its 100% worth having in my opinion not just for the improvements but because when you come to sell the car it will be a lot easier to sell.

It was a £6000 option

Only from '14 was CP an option.Personally I'd want the most comfortable ride and I'd keep with the 19's and the standard suspension though I have 20's on mine. With the CP pack the car is 1cm lower with 10% quicker reaction steering which some want. I find the standard steering quick enough for me and if you are in town regularly like me then the standard one is the choice.

I feel it is overpriced for the mileage and options showing. Trust me when I say that patience pays off when searching for the right one. I eagerly looked for one and got to a point where I was ready to settle just to have one in the garage. My wife convinced me otherwise, and shortly after, April of 2019, I found my one owner 2015 with 20k, comp pack, exec pack, drivers plus, B&O, carbon ceramics, and with a color combo I truly loved. Not to mention, I paid 52k out of the door. Yea, I feel I struck gold, but who says you can't too.

That seems like a good deal, but yours is a 2015 and this is a 2016. This one still has a year of factory warranty, plus is CPO for an additional year.

Keep in mind you'll need to pay $200 to transfer the warranty to your name and also, the CPO is only transferable if the car is purchased from a private seller.

I just went through this w/ my 2015 M5 CP so I'm pretty familiar w/ the process. It wasn't too much of a pain but it took BMW nearly 75 days to make the change.

Suspension is tightened/sharpened a bit, 10 mm lower I believe; "sport" exhaust w/ black-chrome tips (likely all sound) and an extra 15 bph (560 --> 575 = meaningless if you're going to tune it). Oh and lastly you had the option of the 343 or 601 wheels, the 343's being the enthusiast choice as they were forged. My car has the 601's.

Again, it's the more desirable package over a standard M5, especially when it comes to resale; there seems to be more demand for a CP M5; just my observation after being in the market.

I think you can buy CPO vehicles from BMW and still have the warranty. I don't think it's accurate it's only valid from a private seller.

Unless I missed the price originally, the price already looks to have been lowered to $56,962.

I was more implying that you can get more for less. The age only matters when it comes to the warranty, if any is left, when discussing a '15 vs '16. You could take the money saved on a more optioned car and get an aftermarket warranty. My opinion of course, beautiful car either way and I'm sure you won't regret any purchase of an M5.

At least for the 335i, the warranty was worth a lot with all the problems.

Does the M5 have some issues that are well documented to watch out for? 335i had fuel pump, injectors, VANOS, oil filter housing gasket, wastegates, and even turbo issues.

I know it sounds weird but take a look. This is the form I had to use.

https://cpo.bmwusa.com/Content/docs/...pplication.pdf

BMW will sell you a CPO car that they CPO, sure. But, if I'm a priv. seller of a CPO car, the CPO will not stay with the car if I trade it in or sell it to a BMW dealership. i.e. it won't transfer to the new owner. It's a bit of an outlier situation, but it happens.

I believe the dealer itself certifies the car and sells it as certified to the new owner.

was a warranty included in your price? I'm looking at a fully loaded 15 with extended warranty for 61.5 out the door

It was not, but I was offered a 4yr/48k one for $4,900. The car was immaculate and maintained to a tee by the previous owner, so I passed since it had just 20k miles.

I purchased my 2015 loaded minus B&O with 29k miles for 50k out of Dallas. The OP's link to 2016 with awful wheels and non-comp I wouldnt pay more than 50k for.
