BMW filters are made by Mahle, sometimes you can save a few quid by getting the exact same filter but without the M logo.

I do the same, Mahle is the supplier for BMW OEM parts anyway!

Going from memory so double check, but yes I believe that is the correct size.

I've been changing my own oil for the last 24 months. I get the filter and washer from the dealer. $25 for both. Can't go wrong.

OE drain plug is $6 and it comes with washer. The OE filter is $25 and also comes with the washer. Other than that buy a multi-pack at the part store and match it up.

I prefer Hengst brand filters and have run them in my M5's (several different generations) for many, many years. In fact, my 2000 M5 has used Hengst filters and Castrol TWS 10w-60 for the past decade and close to 200,000 miles without issue. (original rod bearings even!)

For my F10, I buy the Hengst filter but it comes with a larger washer, so I bought a pack of 20 or more of the correct size washer off Amazon I think. They seem to be the same size as the OE drain plug for a lot of other BMW's as well.
