115,000 mile update
I did a 100,000 mile update earlier and figured I'd follow up.
What's happened since then...
Still stock. No tunes. What's gone wrong... Nothing. I also have to add... I still love this car. I've had it for years. I've put 100k miles on it and I'm still super happy with it. It's almost paid off and it's tough to think of anything I'd want to replace it with. Of every car I've ever owned, this is the best investment I've made. Anyone here over 120,000 miles? |

I have a 2014 LCI and currently close to 100k miles, running like a champ so far 👍🏻
The car is stock power wise, but upgraded in the aesthetics department. No issues to my knowledge, the pre-owner services the car regularly and it's overall in great shape. I will continue to perform oil changes every 2 - 3 k miles and replace wear parts if necessary. After all, rock solid vehicle and makes me smile every time I drive it. It's my third F10 M5, all higher mileage and never had any issues. Actually, I owned many M cars over the years and always enjoyed the experience. I'm looking forward to your next update, keep her in good health 😃 |

Thanks for the update.
IMO - keep the car for as long as possible after it's paid off. If you eventually want something newer, the F90 isn't that much different than our F10's. More stock power and 4x4. |

nice man, glad to see members reporting back high mileage with little to no issues. How do you drive the car? do you baby it or go at it often? |

Nah, I don't really baby it.
I start it and go without hesitation or warm up. But I'm pretty gentle with it until the engine is up to temp. I use Liqui Moly oil, make sure the spark plugs are to spec, always use high quality brand minimum 91 fuel, and pay close attention to any engine codes. On replacement parts (plugs, coils, oil filters, etc) I stick with genuine bmw parts built for the M5. I'm sure the generics are fine but saving a few $ is not worth the risk to me. |

Same here, don't baby her, after getting the fluids up to operating temperature. My M5 was and always is maintained at a BMW dealership, I check the records and make sure the technician is doing a good job. I have a very tight connection to my dealership, as they are small and family owned.
To my knowledge, my M5 never had any major repairs, other than the infamous condenser replacement once. So far knock on wood! IMHO, if a person maintains these cars as it's meant to be done, they will reward you with plenty of smiles along the way. Tons of power, timeless design and still holding up in the tech department, I plan on keeping her for a long time, despite my tendency to switch cars quite a bit 😅 And one more thing: she truly shines on the Autobahn, I get my daily dose of high speed runs almost every morning, up to 180 mph is happening often, more than that about once a week. And she's pulling like a freight train still, scaring some Porsche pilotes out there 😎 |

Oh I loved the Autobahn. Spent hours at a time going 145+ mph. Amazing how fast that fuel gauge drops though.. and at that speed.. blink and you'll miss a street sign. It's also tiring since you have to just laser focus nonstop. Most people on it are driving about 65mph from my experience.. but sometimes you'll look in your mirror and see a Porsche overtaking you at 180mph or more. Or an M5 Pretty special experience.
Then you get to France where you'll get nowhere quick. In Italy driving is madness. Switzerland is amazing. Amsterdam was very cool. The UK driving was tough.. you have to constantly fight your trained reaction and muscle memory. But that made it easier to do another 2000 miles across Japan and Hokkaido last year. All in rentals unfortunately. 150mph is about all they would do with the pedal nailed to the floor. I would have loved to have my M5 out there but I don't think I would of wanted to go much faster. Photo attached so I'm not too off topic |

I am at 42k, never an issue on my 2014. My BMW tech said they have had very little problems with the LCI M5. Remember on forums, most first time posts or people joining are for problems trying to get answers so its always skewed negative.

That's city life. I don't have a garage. A few things I can sneak in.. But if I need to get under the car I'm sure I'll get some crap from apartment management.
There's a DIY garage near by.. kind of neat. You rent a bay with a lift, tools, etc to do your own work for about $50/hr. I haven't tried it. The problem with DIY repairs is you'll need that extra part and it takes 3 days to arrive while your car is disabled... and you're paying $50/hr. When the average shop here is asking $120/hr it doesn't seem that bad of a deal. |
