Spark plug question
Hi
I'm thinking of getting the steinbauer module and wanted to know if the oem spark plugs are ok or whether an aftermarket spark plug is recommended?

Would consider a remap as a posed to a tuning module. My primary question is whether the stock spark plugs are good or need Upgrading with the extra power on a stock M5 competition pack (no additional hardware mods) Similarly am toying with whether okada coils needed or not.

Stock spark plugs and coils will be fine. If you have any issues then swap them out but when mine was serviced at 30k miles the spark plugs were part of that service so they need changing fairly regularly.
Bootmod3 or any other OBD flash is alot less work and tinkering than a tuning module. Just plug in the laptop and click a few buttons |

And do you suggest changing and gaping the spark plugs before/after flashing? Thanks Just standard maintenance will be fine. And of course, we recommend the use of a good quality premium fuel. As for gapping plugs, it’s unnecesary. The only time we have ever run into misfire is when the tune is excessively aggressive and forcing the DME to pull back timing or when boost is too high while running OEM catalysts which will cause excessive backpressure. In both these cases, the fix is a properly calibrated tune, not ignition system tweaks |
