Running 25 psi+ on stock internals? Do tuners strongly urge their customers to build the engine before going beyond known limits? If I was in the business of tuning cars I wouldn't go past 23psi if the customer didn't have a built motor or at least a pile of money set aside for when the engine eventually needed to be replaced.

So, at the end of the day, who has the best OBD delivered tune?

I am leaning towards ESS, but would like to learn more...

Myself and quite a few other owners on here have been very happy with BPM Sport's tune. I've personally had both Stage 1 & Stage 2 on my car.

Thanks - so what cats were you running for Stage 2? Or, was it really worth it?

How does it drive? I've searched 'tunes', and there appear to be a couple of horror stories attached to some...

I'm running fabworx Catless downpipes right now. I had AMS before. Just get a quality set of downpipes and you'll be set

It's great. It's my daily car so it's still very useful. Normal driving I'm under 3k rpms and acts like any other M5. But when you step on it, it's feels great

+1. Mike has excellent customer service. You can find many posts in this forum about him.

I have his stage 1.

Right on...because prior maintenance and condition of the car had nothing to do with the failures right?

Listen to yourself - DME wouldn’t be in business the way they are if they made sure to blow up all their customer cars in pursuit of a big dyno number.

You have DME confused with Gintani

I have spoken with Mike @ BPM and he seems to have a solid grasp on the technology and its implementation - problem is they recommend new plugs and I just had the car serviced, so I will have to wait awhile.

I would still be interested in hearing anyone's opinions on ESS tunes as well.

I'm going ESS within a month.

Used them on other cars in the past, never had issues, also have friends who installed supercharger kits from them 15 years ago on E46's without any problems.

I think the JB4 tune is the safest and I have stage 2 on my car, and I have been very happy

Agree, The Jb4 is the only piggyback with safety failsafe that will decrease power to stock level if the car is over boosting or running lean

Anyone want to take a peek and give me some honest feedback?

Motor is not built.

Exhaust, upgraded intercoolers, downpipes, cold plugs and coils but really it’s all tune.

Car runs like a crazy deamon but I also think perhaps I “outkicked the coverage”.

I went to my tuner after I got 3 car gapped early by a turbo 340i on a brake boosted roll and said my stage 1 was acting lazy….

PSI on both stock internals are now 25+psi.

Headed to track event March 2nd but factoring that I may need to dial it back after considering the numbers I’m seeing from posts about other stage 2 tunes.

Patience with the gas pedal in the meantime and MDM active at a minimum!

Perhaps ask your tuner to cap the boost low down. I am in a similar situation but now exploring the options in regard to a forged bottom-end
