Creaking from the front right suspension

The car has just developed a really loud creaking sound from the front right suspension, its really loud when turning the steering wheel and you can also hear it when the car drives over bumps.

The noise is a bit quieter when the wheel is in the air (car on a jack)

I sounds like one of the rubber bushes but not sure which one as there are quite a few.

I have spoken with BMW assist who said nothing should be lubricated so it will be a failed component and i will have to wait until the lock down ends which is fine as i don't need to use it.

Not concerned as the car has an extended warranty but would be interested to hear your thoughts as to what it is. Car has covered 16,500 miles and is a 2016 build.

Lots of things can cause creaks but as the car has only 16k on it it's unlikely to be suspension bushes/arms unless specific to CP. More likely creaking can be attributed to strut failure or cracking there. Any play in arms or bushes would be picked up on MOT.

Not necessarily, because there are more joints than a simple car setup they are harder to find movement on.

If it's creaking like OneExtra says under braking then it would come up on the MOT brake test roller and it would fail.

It wasn't creaking when it had its MOT 500 miles ago

That figures then.
*My oil change is due on 21st May and it's done around 3000 miles since this time last year. I'm a bit worried about taking it in when dealer eventually opens because of this Covid situation but don't want to attempt it myself.
I guess I'll take plenty of wipes and latex gloves giving it a good wipe down afterwards.

My post was before the one about braking hard. Besides a car can creak all it wants on MOT, if they can't find movement then they can't fail it. When a car is on a brake roller its brakes are checked, not the noises the car makes.

Don't listen to me though, I know nothing.

At my BMW dealer at MOT they wouldn't let a creak go unnoticed

They can advise but not fail a creak, unless the creak has resulted in movement or loss of efficiency of a component.

Took the car to BMW today so they can investigate. On driving to the dealer the creaking has now turned into a constant tapping/banging/knocking with less of a creak

It literally drives down the road and all you can hear is a quick knock knock knock

I have a 420i X Drive as a loan car. 4WD is interesting but not pushed it that hard.

They are saying it's a faulty control arm, I have asked if they should be replaced in pairs as per the comment from Dwaynos

I would advise you did so either way. I replaced one and not long after, the other one needed doing. I paid just under £270 each with a new nut.

That's if it's the forward arm, there are a few others also.
