Rear footwells completely soaked
Came back after 1 week away and the both rear footwells are completely soaked....No obvious signs of door seal issues and windows all closed...Any idea how water has got in??
Strange that its happened in both rear footwells at the same time and only in the rear foot wells |

So looks like there is some water coming in through via either the driver side door seal at the bottom or between the gao between the door card and door. I’ve read that the vapour seals can fail and could be the cause so hopefully this is an easy fix although I don’t know if it will be covered under warranty... where the water appears to be coming the footwell is much “wetter” than the other side. Could water have actually got to the other footwell because the ground is not flat as everything on the other side seems fine??

Sunroof maybe? Take some weed trimmer line and force it down the drain channels to push and debris out and clear them. Should be four of them.

There is two plastic hoses attached into sunroof rails one for each side, first check your sunroof seal and then try to put your hand on headliner and find wet spots.

Sunroof, drains. You have 2 going forward and 2 going back.
Water will flow from the front footwell back if there is enough incline That would be my first logical guess. Door seals...... not so much. Did you get rear glass replaced... maybe ? another clue.... Let us know what happens ( how it goes ) Last edited by MyF15+F85; 01-07-2018 at 06:31 AM.. Reason: add on |

My experience is sunroof drains clog and cause this issue. Hard to blow them out without an extended rigid air blow gun. You have to open the sunroom and blow them from the top. The two on the front are easy to see, the rears are harder to see/reach.

thanks for all your comments guys but its def not the sunroof. I actually pryed the door card off ever so slightly and a load of water came out so the problem is definitely in the door area and I'm thinking its prob the vapour berrier
Unbelieable for a car that was nearly 100k pounds new to suffer from the problem. If they don't cover under warranty i will be kicking off big time! |

I had the same issue a while back, on my first 2014 M5. The vapor barrier on the F10 doors series is known for malfunctioning, the water will directly run into the carpet area and soak it completely. Just use a water container and let the water run down the windows, then check your door panels on the bottom, you will find water there. There's another thread on this subject, applying a new seal will provide a lasting solution.
