Anyone heard or signed up with Endurance? According to ConsumerAffairs that was their recommendation.

Yeah I would have tried it but Warranty service would pay only to Dealership and their approved shops. I asked them to give me the check as the car is not worth that much but they said sorry we cannot do that. I was like ok Have BMW fix it and they offering 2 years warranty unlimited mileage.
Well thats strange. Never heard of a warranty not paying licensed independants.

That sounds very good. By comparison, I paid $6k for 4/50, very complete coverage. Plus, I put $1500 down and chose to pay the balance monthly for 24 months, zero interest.

Do you have to do any regular maintenance to keep the service contract happy? I have to do oil changes every 5k. That's what I do anyway, so no biggie. And if you do your own oil changes or repairs, will they pay you for the parts?

I’m going to go through the contract tonight to see what caveats there are. The sales guy of course doesn’t mention any of those things. The part that worries about it so far is the negative reviews but then again you read about those with every company I’ve looked up so far.

I extended my warranty with BMW at the cost of Ł1k!

I was chatting to a mate in the motor trade and he bought a 2013 F10 M5 with 38k miles, unmodified with fsh.

Fortunately it had a transferable extended warranty, as the engine & both turbos went bang, due to swarf in the oil.

BMW honoured the repair costs at Ł37,000 !!!!!!

Quite surprised they didn't try to write the car off?

That's a sure sign your mate's M was abused in it's early life and with the 'flash' tunes they can be removed without any evidence prior to sale.

I've owned E46 E60 E92 and now F10, not once I purchased extended warranty. I do take my time to find a car that was taken care of and I continue to do the same. Never had any big problems. If you take care of her, she will do the same.

My ‘13 M5 (49k miles) fidelity warranty expires in August so I decided to give them a call, and request a quote for extending the warranty. Here’s what I was told:

Gold: 3 yr, 36,000 miles, $500 deductible - $7,041
Platinum: 3 yr, 36,000 miles, $500 deductible - $10,497

These quotes are certainly on the higher end so I’ll be shopping around for a better deal.

Let us know if you get through with something. I have been looking for my 2014 M5 and I have had no luck. The best I saw was Route 66 and it was 3 yrs/ 36k miles and they will only pay out up to $5k for the life of the policy. Cost was $3000. Didn't make sense for me to get it. Do NOT go with Delta Auto Protect. They are scam artist. They don't pay the repair shops on time either. Total nightmare.

I got a 5/50 with Patriot warranty for <3k. It was almost impossible to find a 3rd party warranty vendor who sold to the public vs having to gothrough a dealership. Not an exclusive plan but the Premier Elite Plan. I had them amend my contract to include the local BMW labor rate of 149 vs the generic "standard labor rate" verbage that was in there. And had them add the actual sale price of the vehicle instead of "blue book value" for the plan payout maximum. No claims yet (knock on wood) so I can't comment on that.

Third party warranties just try to not pay for everything. DIY and take care of the car.

Indy shop engine rebuild prices are approaching some of these warranty quotes.

This sounds very tempting. Reviews online seem rather positive for Patriot warranty so I might take the risk. Thanks for sharing!

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. In 2013 I bought an exclusionary policy through Warrantech for my E60 M5, and with no questions asked, they covered a motor (let me source it through Troy), TB actuators, CCC modules, slave cylinder and front control arms. Maybe I just got lucky, who knows.

What are thoughts on powertrain warranties? I can get a 4 yr powertrain warranty from Fidelity for about $5k — Figured this would cover my engine and turbos through 100k miles. Alternatively I could get Gold coverage for $5k, but only 2 years of coverage. I’m trying to weigh cost vs coverage at this point.

Exclusionary plan is the only way to go. Never had an issue. They’ve paid out some major bucks.

Hey Everyone,

Looking at getting a '13 M5 with 66k miles on it, owner kept it in perfect condition have driven and seen the car in person and it's in excellent condition, I've been trying to find an aftermarket warranty but a few places I've tried have said they don't cover the car...

Can anyone through some recommendations for me please!

Pretty much nobody will touch 'em anymore. I wouldn't even waste your money on the few few companies that will cover it, like the Patriot warranty I have on my '13 M6 42k miles I got last year. It was $4200 for a 2yr/24k coverage with a $100 deductible. Their labor late, along with most other warranty companies, are capped at $100-120/hr, but my local BMW dealer is $240/hr. They also won't be nearly as comprehensive as a BMW warranty obviously.

Save the money, spend it on preventative maintenance like plugs, coils, maybe rod bearings, or at least do an oil analysis first, etc. You'd be better off that way. Even worst case scenario you need a motor rebuild, you're looking at around $10k for an RKAutowerks rebuild. You're really not going to save any money with an extended warranty because of how old our cars are and how expensive it is to get a warranty. If you got a later model car with lower mileage it would've been cheaper and a better investment, but extended warranties are all about calculated gambles, and they almost always win.
