yeah i agree ive literally just saw the price of it............yikes

im guessing any change of exhaust will void warranty.
No need to change exhaust just buy an exhaustmeister and you can open the flaps by remote, the car then sounds like a V8 should.

It's also warranty friendly

I've straight piped my back boxes internally and have a switch for the exhaust flaps. It sounds loads better than stock but does not pop and crackle all the time, sometimes gives off the odd loud bang which I love.

Nope not referring to you, I personally think you're carbon was worth every penny. I don't even know who I was referring to but I have seen some people spending thousands of pounds on pointless upgrades. Who the hell doesn't miss £7k? that is beyond me. Throwing money away like it comes easy.

Would they get their knickers in a twist over this when it's in for warranty work?

So guys thanks for all the help so far, very informative.

When would be the ideal time to buy from a dealer? I've heard that sometimes they offer 0% apr, is this just for new models or approved used aswell?

There is no way I'm paying the 12.9% apr listed.

Cheers

You could haggle to get to 7% and if you are very luck 5% APR

It depends if they can tell it's been done. If the welds are ground down to the point you can no longer see them then they won't know.

I can't help you with the apr side of things though unfortunately. Best bet is to find a car you like and go into the dealer to talk to them. If they want to sell it they will work with you.

You don't have to have BMW finance get the car you want and agree a price then pay for it on a bank loan at 3%

That's what I was planning but will try for a 0% deal 1st. Once I have sold my impreza I will have a hefty deposit.

What are prices like for discs/pads etc?

Is there an option of a service plan when buying used from a dealer? If so would that include brakes etc

You will never get 0% unless you buy a new car that's 100% definite

Discs and pads are £1500 fitted I had mine done recently and paid £1100

No service plan unless you buy a new car

Ok thanks, where did you go to get them done for £1100?

At least I dont have to use the dealer for servicing I can use a specialist as long as they use bmw parts my warranty wont be void.

I wonder if discs from eurocarparts are the correct ones as they sometimes have a 50% off promotion

I would suggest using Genuine parts as it's not a low power car where copy parts are OK

Ultimately it's an M car and it isn't cheap to run properly, don't skimp on quality

I got the work done by BMW Cheltenham

Genuine discs are available for approx £800 fronts and £600 rear on Ebay. Not sure on dealer prices as I've not needed any yet. Rear pads can get purchased for £60 ish, not to sure about the fronts.

OneExtra I assume £1100 was for front discs and pads only?

i would always use quality parts only, my impreza gets nothing but the best same as my mrs civic type r. no ebay/halfrauds parts come near my cars.

my local bmw dealers are either leicester/tamworth/coventry, not sure who is best though. tamworth is probably the easiest to get to for me.

While on the subject of brakes, can the rear pads be changed without coding because of the electric handbrake.

Yes just leave the handbrake off and wind the pistons back like any normal caliper.

You would have to check with the dealer but I would imagine a new engine would come with a minimum of 12 months warranty.

I will make a list of questions to ask.

Do you know if they offer the move me nearer service? ie if I see a car that's miles away would they move it to a closer dealer for me.

The spec I'm after is 2015 onwards with competition pack,20 inch wheels, monte carlo blue or Singapore grey and the extended black leather
