Yes- he mentioned there is some rubber piece that has failed...my point is that if there is a rubber piece that has failed, its because the heat protection mats they added did not do their job...

Don't think you got much choice but order the kit from Bm if you plan to do it yourself and use that hi temp silicone flex pipe a few columns back for more security.

Is a professional coolant system bleed necessary after this? Or can I just swap the line, add some OEM coolant and let it bleed itself with the coolant cap open?
It seems simple enough to not warrant a trip to a shop. |

Not much coolant will come out. Technically it still is introducing air, but I don't think you should have any concerns. I replaced mine and then used the opportunity to top up the coolant since it was getting low from the leak anyway.

Looking at my 4 replacement flex hoses again I've ordered a half metre length hi temp reinforced silicone 3/8''or 9.5mm (inner diam) hose as the ones fitted are normal ones. Before replacing those at the time one of the middle ones was well cooked and I don't want it to happen again so I'll also be fitting some thick aluminium foil securely wired just below the silver insulators (not wrapped around them) to further heat protect them.

All done, it's best to just slice the old ones with sharp knife in the middle for ease of removal then use vaseline sparingly to slide new ones on.The oetiker clamps I found crush the flex pipes too much so used new worm drive ones which can be easily removed if required later and instead of the Bm silver felt protectors which shed felt all over the pipes and made a mess I used a similar type heatproof covering from overseas that has no felt as in any case the Bm ones would not clear the worm drive clamps' larger radius. With the foil fitted also with a securing wire I checked it again after test drive and am satisfied these new ones should behave themselves and celebrated with a well earned beer.

Hi It was a roll of silver hi heat proof wrap I received similar to what wraps around exhaust manifolds but with h/t velcro fixing. At the bottom of all these went a straight sheet of folded thick cooking foil ..! fixed neatly with wire for extra heat protection and after the M cover went on you can't see a thing.

You got a leak coming from that second line. You can see the button had turned black from the leak. I replaced my lines with something more sturdy. Hasn't leaked since.
