Question current m5 and s63tu reliability

i want to ask the m5 owners that is m5 and its engine reliable so far since 2012?
i am looking into buying a used m5 2013 24k miles.
have there been any known issues with the engine or electronics?
i dont plan on buying after market warranty on it.
never did on my previous 335, x6 and 535.
currently i do have a 650xi cpo.

I pretty much asked the same question about 3 weeks ago when I got my CPO '13 with 31K miles. Search my user name to find the thread and you'll see some responses to my questions. In short: the overall thoughts were that it's more positive than negative.

I have a 13 which is a late 2012 production and the car has been solid with no issues. Pushing 680-690whp now.

Coming up 60k on mine- 2012 build. No issues in its history. A BIG step up from the E39 and E60 M5's in reliabilty so far.

Do you run race gas all the time?

Should be decent, considering BMW is still using it and has over the years increased the HP with basically just a tune (560-575-600), so I think they are fairly confident in S63/Tu's reliability.

This car is reliable from a BMW perspective, but by no means is it a Toyota/Lexus. Try to negotiate a warranty unless you have a friend that can help you out.

I had an 2010 X5m and i didn't extend the warranty and i kept it 2 years after the warranty expired and I had no issues just normal scheduled upkeep which was expected.

All_Motors power and all these guys with a good amount of mileage gives me the warm and fuzzys, plus the fact that BMW feels they can up the HP means that they trust it.

Unstable idle

My ex f10 M5 2012 DCT has some decent problem. Currently the BMW shop investigating the root and cause of problem.

Car has 44k km and of course no error code via ODB.

- unstable idle. Engine shakes pretty well, you can even feel from the driver side. Unstable RPM during idle (not just cold start), needle moves up and down slightly
- driver side of the engine/banks shake well, maybe misfiring?
- on load, car seems to be not so stable

BMW shop changed the 8 injectors, changed the spark plugs, tested another set of coils, but the unstable idle remains.

Maybe vanos solenoids? Any idea?
