1997 740il single misfire common causes?

1997 740il with 142k miles on it. The guy replaced spark plugs on there but get a check engine for misfire intermittently. No oil in the spark plug wells with “hesitation” at high rpm in 2nd gear.
Could it just be coils or injectors?

Do you keep getting misfire on the same cylinder?

Did you try moving a known good ignition coil over to the cylinder that's misfiring?
