Syrian nougat with speculoos and rose petals
In the window of a Syrian pastry shop in Brussels. Background in the photo shows a tower of baklava, awesome! Nougat is cooked sugar and honey with whipped egg whites. Speculoos is a sweet paste made with ginger and cinnamon, very popular in Belgium. You are probably familiar with Lotus Biscoff cookies (Delta Airlines serves them), which have a speculoos flavor. Unbelieveable craftsmanship. |
