Weather Forecasts

Have you noticed weather forecasts being increasingly wrong since around the time of the pandemic? I have been glued to the weather for the past 9 years, and used to be able to count on the apple weather app or other websites for accurate predictions for the day, but not for the past year or so.

What weather app do you use? Have you had to change your weather forecast source?

Apple Weather has gone to shit since they took over Dark Sky. If you Google around, you'll see articles about the increasing inaccuracy of Apple Weather.

It's always 100% accurate when I look outside. Beside, meteorologists are a lot like politicians promising something that you never get.

I like to follow the weather radar on the Government site. At least, I can make my own guesses. https://www.accuweather.com/en/ca/ne.../weather-radar

My god don't get me started.

I can't tell you how much I miss MyCast. The vapor loop alone was worth $10 a month.

For the love of all that's holy someone bring it back.

Oh wait, it'll just be bought out by some idiot company.

I use RadarScope for my local high-res doppler radar and make my own forecast.

I have a Tempest Weather station so I know what's going on in my yard. It has a forecast, but I don't usually go to that first. I've gotten pretty good with looking at data and radar and making my own predictions.

What’s the best radar app these days? The owner of MyRadarPro lives 1 street up from us. I was using that - particularly for hurricane season, but for knowing when to take the boat out - i’d like forcast I can somewhat rely on like in the past.

I like Weather Underground because the radar allows you to see Storm Tracks, which tells you if the storm contains cells with hail or possible tornadoes. They have a phone app as well. There are several local private weather stations I can access through Weather Underground to see how the winds are out in the open fields, like around the local airport.

Is it not common knowledge yet that weather modification is happening?

My Radar app has been good to me, especially when I'm on the fence on "weather " (see what I did there) or not to use the bike or car to commute to work.
I usually check both My Radar and the standard issue weather app on my android phone before the final decision.
The accuracy has been very reliable over the past couple years when using either, or and both.

I too have a Tempest, since right after it came out replacing the previous model, so it's now 3 years old. Fantastic device - fully solar-powered, communicates to base station in the house which then connects to your wifi network, dead-nuts reliable. About twice a year I've had to reboot it but other than that it's never failed.

One of the super-cool things it does is provide a highly localized forecast based on your station's own data, and other data complied in the area. The official NWS site for my area is down below me in a valley, and up where we are, temps are consistently slightly lower in spring/summer. The Tempest forecast reflects this and is highly accurate. The more historical data you accumulate, the more accurate it gets.

Here's a link to my data.. note the ability to look at various graphs of historical data. Awesome device that I recommend highly.
