I re-read the article. While the brake is pressed the rear wheels are ‘spinning’. Once the brake is released the car moves forward and the fronts hook up.

How does this work at the drag strip? Car and Driver obviously didn’t do this at a real strip. Must be fun at stop lights although kinda obvious when tires are smoking and it hasn’t turne green yet.

C&D also uses corrective measures--- thats why their numbers are almost always better than other mag numbers... none the less- the car is putting down the power AND has grip this time.

Think I read that unlike its norm, BMW is releasing a ‘Competition Pack’ very soon with additional 27(?)HP and standard CCM brakes.

Yes now we just need more tire developments in the 19''+ range for radials and this thing could be setting a new standard for bmw and 1/4

This new M5 is insanely fast. That trap speed is what on par with the Z06 that weighs 700ish pounds less. With some different tires I’ll bet we see some M5s run close to mid 10’s. I hope the new M5 uses some of this and cuts 250-300lbs or so.

It’s crazy that it’s even possible if that’s the case.

ya thats why i think they def lied about the numbers. i mwan they have in the past but judging by how the z06 did against e63s theres just no way that a lighter rwd 2 door sports car with 650hp is just as fast a 4door heavy 4wd 612hp car.

Got the new Road and track magazine yesterday. They ran 1/4 in 10.9 @ 127.1, 0-60 in 2.8, 0-150 in 16.7. Not bad.

From what I understand the Z06 has mega aerodynamic drag from the down force created by it's spoilers, which slows it down at higher speeds. Maybe that accounts for the similarity. The Z06 is probably far superior at high speed handling due to this as well.

didnt know that the lil wing would do that much to it. could be gearing too that helps the e63s? either way crazy how far these performance sedans have come.
