Window tint advice needed.

I have never had tinted windows before but think it may be time for it. What type, transparency, color, etc would be good for my silverstone II M5. I really don't want anything too dark. Recommendations for a place in atlanta would also be helpful.
Thanks.

i used Suntek's top of the line. I think it's called CXP.

I prefer dark tint. I went with 18% on sides and back...55% on windshield and 5% on sunroof.

I love it.

I had CXP on my Audi. Good tint, but I wouldn't do it on the windshield. Clarity is important to me and for a large surface area like the windshield a lot of things can go wrong. You're also dealing with electronics where any water leakage into your dash can cause your warranty to be voided.

The CXP is great, but like many tints, it has a rainbow effect when you wear polarized sunglasses. It really bugged me and I regretted having tinted my car. I also hate how the light refracts off the defroster lines and turn to stars at night. I believe that it's better with darker tints, but it's like a stigmatism to me. I may tint my M5 some day, but will go with darker and regular carbon films. The CXP has a lot of heat rejection for their % value, but it has these crystals imbedded in them that will make your windows look hazy when the sun is just at the right angle.

I highly suggest you DO NOT do mix tints. It looks SO much cleaner when the tint is all one color. Less is more man. The days of limo tinting your car are out IMO.

I'd do a 35% all around. Especially on your color.

I hear ya... But I will say, this is my first tinted windshield and I love the heat reduction in the day and how it reduces the glare from oncoming headlights at night is worth every penny to me personally. And it actually helps me see the HUD better with a darker backdrop for it to project onto.
Also, I don't have any rainbow effect with either my polarized Maui Jim's or Ray Bans.
But hey... At the end of day, to each his own.

I never realized limo tinting was 'in'... Or 'out' for that matter. I've always decided on tint to meet my personal comfort and privacy goals first... And looks follow second.

Phil, you car does look great. I wanted a change after the sparkling graphite M3, otherwise yours would have been my color of choice.
Regarding the tint, I will keep it uniform and not do the windshield.

I just had mine done a couple of weeks ago. I decided to go with Spectra Photosync film. This is a ceramic tint that will get about 10% darker when exposed to sunlight. I put 45% all around and 70% on the windshield and moon-roof for heat rejection. My car is AW with black interior, so 45% looks pretty dark. I am very pleased with how it turned out. There is no rainbow effect with this film.

Here is what the website says about the Photosync tint:

Solar Adaptive Nano Coating adjusts itself when it is exposed to certain wavelengths of the solar spectrum making it what we call a “Spectrally Selective film.” High levels of solar exposure trigger the window film to adjust immediately, rejecting heat to match the solar intensity. The transitional effect of this film increases Total Solar Energy Rejection (TSER) by up to 79% while sustaining light and clear visibility.

Thanks.
Okay since you don't want too dark, but you want high quality protection - I have the best suggestion.

What you should do is get Prestige Photosync 75. This film has the highest heat rejection because it also rejects the most IR of any film on the market. It rejects the same amount of heat as 3M colorstable 5% or 3M Crystalline 30%. Also you can get even more heat rejection by getting a darker Photosync - 75% is the lightest. It lets through 75% of the light and has a very slight blue tint which means it looks like glass. It would look awesome on your Silverstone car.

Here is a photo of this tint on my 2013 M5. All windows were tinted on this car including the windshield. I haven't tinted my 2014 since I can't really be bothered and I don't park the car outside during the day.

Also here is a link to another M5 with Photosync but he may have a darker shade. It comes as dark as 35.

http://www.tintdude.com/forum/index....ige-photosync/

As for a shop - the best shop is All Pro Window tinting in Canton, GA. They did my car and several other people's cars here.

Also to compare key stats of my Prestige Photosync 75 to Phil's Suntek CXP 18: Superior in visibility and heat rejection, the Suntek is only better at privacy. Personally my fiancé and I are super good looking and don't mind being photographed behind the wheel.

Visible light:
Suntek CXP 18: 18%
Prestige Photosync 75: 75.6% during night and 70% during day
Prestige Photosync 45: 45% during night and 35% during day

Total Solar Energy Rejection:
Suntek CXP 18: 56%
Prestige Photosync 75: 61.3%
Prestige Photosync 45: 65.9%

Also if you prefer a grey tint then I would suggest 3M Crystalline. Also outperforms the Suntek and has a grey look. However i really think the Prestige will look the best on your car.

Stealth, I requested a sample of the photosync and a dealer list for the Atl. We'll see if they send me the sample. One day we will get the atl get together organized.
