Looks like an F80 M3 that got stretched out..... (not that Mercedes has any differentiation in their sedan line up LOL)

It's very predictable and not exciting at all visually. Mercedes have moved their game along significantly BMW have chosen not too.

Looks marginally better with black wheels and trim, not loving it though

Very similar to the F10:
Better seats
Dash is worse with NAV not intergrated
More horse power nothing to write home about
Love the engine bay
Wheels nearly the same
Upgraded roof and I guess sun roof optional? It's still a family hauler
Shift knob looks like a Xbox controller for a fighter jet
Rear looks like the 7 series

In person may make me go ahhh, but it's not a market splash.

What happened to DCT? Why is there a steptronic auto in it now?

Will be interesting to see sales figures versus E63S. Hopefully there are some lease deals to be had.

Somewhat disappointing. Styling looks incremental. Plus they are launching the car with a HP disadvantage versus Mercedes. I am curious if the real 0-60 time is actually faster or not.

If you are blindly brand loyal then this is your car. Others will probably cross-shop. The F10 when it was launched in 2011 was so good that I would not have considered the competition.

This car is definitely better than the F10. There can be no doubt about that. It's a lot faster.

But the F10 represented a huge step ahead of the competition in 2011, and this car does not.

No DCT (AMG and Porsche have a DCT)
No Active anti roll bars (Porsche has)
No rear wheel steering (Porsche and M550 have that)
Less HP than competitors (E63S and Panamera Turbo S both ahead here)
Incremental styling which looks aged out of the box (Porsche and AMG have better styling)
Small nav screen
Looks barely different from the M550

I think the new M5 is great.. But no DCT. And that is why I'll be happy with mine (which I haven't had that long, used). I've been a die-hard 6MT driver my entire life, but driving the M5 DCT feels like being in an F1 car. I am sure the ZF auto will put down great performance numbers but I can't imagine it feeling the same way.

I still don't like the F30 inspired rear.

I will most likely skip the first model year have been screwed over three times on E39, E60, and F10.

Waiting for LCI.

But the increased size and height bothers me though
