I has two of these and couldn't give them away, people prefer Michelin Pilot Sport 4s tyres, GLWS but I wouldn't hold out much hope.

People don't normally buy one tyre, unless they've had a mishap with 1 they currently have fitted. In either case you would just go out and buy a pair of Michelin PS4s.

I’m due the F10 M5 ‘kick in the nads’ shortly

Tyres, pads and my disks have about 1mm lip

This is the bit where you spend £67 million on consumables and start browsing eBay for what entire car you could have bought for the same price.

Do the discs need replacing? 1mm isnt much. Whats the mileage?

This is not directed at you but I keep saying to people buy the best M5 you can as in the long term it will cost you less.

One guy on M3 Cutters just bought an M5 with 7 owners and did not get a warranty despite being told again and again to get one, guess what the engine has gone bang.

That £25K M5 is now going to cost him £38K

That’s a fair comment. I bought ‘well’ (I think) from a main dealer, I’ve run for 2yrs and 15k miles (49 total) and these are my first consumables apart from an unavoidable windscreen and tyre.

It’s when tax, insurance, warranty, tyres, disks and brakes all come into alignment....wallet armageddon

Edit: I tell a slight lie, it’s just the fronts, rears are showing 11000 to go.

Dont change the discs just because the idrive says so, better to get them measured as they maybe fine. I had new discs and pads foe I think £1200 fitted so shop around

I'm not really sure how the number of owners affects a particular car. Some people buy them to get it out of their system.

For me if it has had a lot of owners it means its not been in one owners possession for that long so wont potentially be really well loved and cared for.

I think the M5 is a car with enough grunt that even a few abusive drives could massively impact the car over the long term. If I see lots of owners I’m thinking lots of people have done LC or mapped/unmapped and then got bored. It’s probably not the case but I could quite see it and YouTube doesn’t do much to convince you otherwise.

Having said that I drive very gently but I could quite easily have let the car go after 12mths if it had made financial sense...glad I didn’t, it would have been a mistake.

What you're saying make sense absolutely. However, my car has more than average owners and appears to have been very well looked after, bodywork is great, service history is more than the interval and just overall great condition. When I replaced my rod bearings I was very surprised how good they were, they didn't really need changing, this has to be down to the care taken by its previous owners.

I had the number of owners in my mind when I bought it but having looked over it and at the service history I was happy to make the purchase.

It's a shame that those without an interest feel it necessary to post.
That probably includes me!
