Had the exact same dilemma.

Choose for the M5 since the M5 is a special car versus the Cayenne which, albeit nice, is a spoilered-up Cayenne 'S'. I have a virtually brand new 991 (and is my 3rd 911 till date) and am an avid Porsche Fan however, the M5 beats them all (incl. the 911).

M5 all the way.

^^^ Massive statement because the 991 is an incredible feat by Porsche. I hope to concur as I passed on the 991 for the M5 after great great deliberation.

I just had my Carrera GT serviced three weeks, oil change $970.64, two tire pressure senors $719.50, front spoiler lip( the old one broke, it just a piece of plastic, not carbon fiber) $1206.02, brake system flush $232.51. And I just looked at my receipt now, saw another charge call Customer pay shop charge for repair order $49.95, I don't even know WTF is that for. Total $3321.48. So, if you love Porsche, then you better have your wallet ready.
I'm jealous of your Carrera GT. it's crazy how after 6 years it still cost as much as MSRP.
Have you seen this new video btw?
