Guys with BLACK GLOSS WRAPPED roofs chime in please!
I am currently rewrapping my car and i decided to go with gloss black roof.
As i have decided to go with ORACAL for body colour, i ordered ORACAL's black gloss material for the roof as well. I have rewrapped the roof and i am so disappointed with the outcome. I don't know if it is my OCD or high expectations after having transparent satin on the car but this gloss black scratches worse than black paint, it has ripples all over the place after pealing it off and reapplying numerous times to get small bubbles out, however maybe i would be able to live with that, but actual black looks dull. It is like black t-shirt that has been washed many times, it is still black, but if you compare it to brand new black t-shirt it does not look that black anymore. I would like to know what material (make/colour code) have you guys used for your black gloss roofs and if you experience anything similar? i tried taking pictures, but it looks good on pictures, so cannot catch anything i have described above on pic. thanks |

My guy used 3M Scotchprint 1080. Been on for 2.5 years with probably 100 machine washes and 9 track events. Still glossy, no peeling. Very happy with the material.

My roof is wrapped gloss black as well and it definitely scratches easily. I dont know if its avoidable but I just dont care enough to do anything about it.

In my eyes, polishing had no effect on gloss. Pretty durable material. There are a few different wrap materials out there with varying quality. Choose wisely.

You said the gloss blk scratches easily hence fast driving and killing bugs along the way causes it to scratch. I know you don't have gloss blk yet though. Lol
