Imola Red, black leather with Merino red stitching, and more or less all the bell's and whistles BMW had to offer in 2014. The way it is on the pictures is the way it came from the factory.

According to the seller, this was a car BMW made as a presentation vehicle, it may be part of a very limited production run with this spec, meaning there may be a handful of these out there.

I was looking for a newer car, but I've always had a weak spot for Imola Red, knowing this is very rare, when it popped up on the market, I just had to have it.

Having owned BMW's for 15 years, this is my first M5, though I have had numerous others including M-cars, before the M5 I had a-12 ///M550d touring for 5 years.

While I enjoy the new car, I do have a couple of questions I was hoping you could help me out with.

Instrument cluster:
Does this change color? All my other BMW's have changed from white to orange at night and in tunnels, but the M5 is always white. Is the instrument light supposed to always be white?

Ambient light:
I can see the light over the center console working well, however the one in the door handle, the storage compartments in the doors and under the door trim is barely visible, even when its pitch black (inside my garage with all light off).
I have the idrive and instrument wheel all turned up to max. There is no difference between the Modern white and Classic orange in light level.
Is there a known issue with this?
I know a black interior is not the best, but they were significantly brighter in my old pre-LCI ///M550d, which also had black leather.

Great to hear. The best M car ever, rare to begin with and even harder to acquire right now. That car is destined to be a legend and appreciate in value down the road. Not to mention you will love every second of driving it. Congrats man.

Just an update on my car after two years of ownership.
A car I had no real plans to do any mods to, well, I was wrong, and here is the final result.

After two years and a completed car, the question is, enjoy it or sell it......

Well, she's gone.....

New owner picked her up yesterday.

I decided that I had the car for a good 2 years, she was 7 years old, I got good money for her and I had my fun with her.
Time to move on.

I guess this also means that I will be "leaving" this forum eventually.

I have no firm plans for a replacement, I will bank the money and use winter to assess my options.
For the first time in almost 20 years, I may not get a BMW, I find the new ones hideous, the only nice ones is the 5 and 8 series..... For now.

I have an option to get an Imola F90 LCI BMW press vehicle in about 5-6months when they are done with it, but for that kind of money I was thinking maybe going for something a bit more extreme, the M5 is "just a nice 5-series" and not something that turns heads as much as a more exotic sports car.

I may also realize a life long dream to have a convertible, something I've never had but wanted for 25 years.

I will as I said spend winter to assess my options.
If I go BMW, the 8 series is a hot contender and an LCI is planned for 2023, but to be honest, I may turn to "the dark side".
One of the cars that is really grabbing my attention right now is the AMG GTC roadster.

Or I may completely loose my mind and upgrade my electric, like a Porsche Taycan or similar.

Before she went away, I had a last trip to take some final pictures, and a friend took her to a track for a photoshoot with a professional photographer to take photos for a blog article on her.

Thanks for the time here and I wish you all well, I may lurk around from time to time, enjoy my last pictures of what I will look back on as a truly great car.

How about a 2013 M f10 in another colour, you'd enjoy spec'ing it to your own needs and be less worried about it

Hehe, I was going for something a little newer, I want something with a warranty.

New owner has already started removing the vinyl wrap, apparently the lip is also being removed/replaced.
He's wanting to lower it and install downpipes....... A well, not mine anymore

Lower it more? and downpipes oh boy he will ruin that poor car
