Kw Has Kit Questions

Hey guys, I'm interested in getting the kw has kit for my f10 m5. I wanted to know how they are overall from anyone that has/had them? How low can they drop the car?

They’re nice. They will slam lower than is functional. Get them.

Agreed 💯 , best overall setup for the money. Can't beat the combination of lowering the M5 and still maintaining EDC.

I see this is a common route for most. I have also read that retaining the stock EDC shocks is still too soft for the vehicle, under high speeds and tight cornering. Anyone find this to be true? I miss the planted feeling i had with the E60 M5, this one feels more squirrelly. From what i have gathered, going full KW coil overs is the only way to get this train on rails handling.

The KW HAS kit is a good compromise, but it won't replace a full coilover and it's not designed to do so. By retaining the stock shocks, you won't even get close to the driving experience you are seeking. I had KW V4 in some of my powerful cars and it's the best coilover for our cars IMHO.

Fit a Competition Pack front anti roll (sway) bar if your car is a non Comp Pack. Makes a world of difference.

As for KW HAS, I love mine. They are very similar in feel to OEM, but look so much better. I find the sport plus setting plenty stiff enough, but mine is a comp, which is noticeably stiffer tan my previous non comp.

So i take it the CP vehicles have an upgraded sway bar, would the aftermarket one compare to the CP? Might be a bit hard to track down an OEM CP bar.

yes, they are beefier and stiffer. cp sway bars were pretty easy to come by when i was in the market.

i have a non-cp and added dinan sways and dinan HAS kit. having installed the sways several months before the HAS i can say with certainty it is the best mod i made to this car.

I took the big leap of faith.

I went from a non CP to KV4 full coil overs, Dinan Front/Rear sways and deleted the EDC completely. Other than the 2 inch drop, I personally hink the car should come stock like this. Even on 21" wheels and 325 tires in the rear, I get zero rubbing.

Not sure how the CP bar would compare with aftermarket, but I bought mine from a BMW dealer for less than the equivalent to $300USD.

Like most things - the suspension you go with should depend on what you plan to do with the car.

I didn’t want to delete the EDC - because I enjoy being able to put the car in comfort mode and take a comfortable trip. I also enjoy the adjustability of EDC to modulate traction issues. I don’t track my car - so as a COMP package car with the KW HAS and retained EDC it’s a little more versatile for a range of comfortable daily driving and some spirited runs.

I’m also running 21x325 r25 rears, these are mounted on a 21x11.5” rim.

It's a preference thing. I found myself never using the comfort suspension setting as I felt the car was too mushy in comfort. Keep in mind I'm stage 2, catless downpipes and a full sport exhaust. Also pushing 675 HP/TQ so it was all about balance for me.

I would say go with the V3's and keep your EDC. It's the best of both worlds especially if you're not 100% sure.

I'm probably gonna go with the has kit in all honesty, V3's are a bit expensive for me

Once you price replacement OEM shocks, the v3 doesn't look so expensive.
