i think 2013 is different, on the website it says wedge, those are same type bulbs found in door floor bulbs.. on 2015 footwell is actual led PCB panel.. here are pics of what i'm talking about.. two outer bulbs are on when door is on, and likely others are dim amber at night like on top of dome.. i'll have to wire them to 12v to check..
i didn't see any housings sold with 4 prong only two prong which is plug on door side.. However solution is pretty simple, since i only care about them being on when doors are open, take a wedge LED straighten prongs and plug into factory plug.. i'll give it a shot as that should do the trick.. |

as anticipated, the board turns amber at night but the light is dim to a point where it can barely be seen, my main concern is when doors are open that footwells are well lit and that was accomplished by inserting wedge bulbs into the connector..

Is it possible your footwell is aftermarket? Ive searched BMWParts and other websites and shows all to be the same. That plug is the same on mine. Wondering if your housing got swapped?
LED strip in trunk looks great.

on my 2015 model, footwell lights were OEM for sure.. however to match rest of the interior bmw went with LED soft white.. as described above you can simply use a wedge LED bulb of your choice instead of buying complete footwell housings from say bimian which are great for under doors but for footwell in my opinion is an overkill.
Since the pictures above, I also changed the dome lights.. super easy to remove as long as you have the right tools.. (amazon sells a panel removal took kit used to remove clips etc.) works like a charm! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...rch_detailpage |

Kind of an old thread, but I found a german company which provides a replacment PCB for cars with this setup. I don't have an M5 but my X3 has the same footwell lighting. When they arrive I will post an update on how well they match with the other custom interior lighting I have installed.

Hi hybrid_eg, Sorry for reviving a years-old thread - I stumbled across your post here, which shows your LED strip-light in your car's trunk (photo above), which is exactly the kind of solution I've been searching to use in my F10. I'd love to know more about where you got it from and how you set it up. I know you wrote elsewhere that you bought it from www.ddmtuning.com, but I can't find it there, mostly because I don't know exactly what to search for, and they seem to sell hundreds of products. Could you help me identify the specific product you bought there? I'd also love to know how you wired it up. In your photo, I can see that the black cable disappears through a hole in the trunk lid. Did you create that hole (and put the black rubber seal around it) yourself, or is it already there? More importantly, how did you get it connected to the car's power source? Any details or instructions on that would be much appreciated! Thanks! |

those were 20CM LED COB panels, you can buy them anywhere.. see ebay link below. I dont remember if rubber grommet was there or not but i simply hid the wires in that area.. you can use any of the existing holes in that metal deck lid to hide the wire. I tapped into power from the original trunk light right next to it.. that's it.
