iDrive and finger gesture
When I first got my F10, I was going thru the menus and noted that I could use my finger to perform tasks. Never really used it...does anyone else and why?

Are you referring to the touchpad function of the iDrive controller? I use it to enter a destination in the navigation system or a name in the phone menu, but voice command is normally faster. IMHO, it's a nice Feature, but I don't use it too often!

If you have a LCI 2014+ F10 M5 in North America you'll have an NBT/NBT Evo Navigation unit. So that means you'll have the "iDrive touch controller" which is a touch sensitive pad on top with handwriting recognition. Yup, you can trace alphanumerical characters on top of the knob instead of rotating the knob or using voice recognition. Works great while you're driving because it actually works quite accurately.
Gesture control on more recent BMWs is a totally different technology that is totally touchless.
