BMW 5W30 to liquid molly

So got liquid molly 5W30 put in last week, and something I noticed first day was the temp now goes between the 1st qtr line and half way temp mark under hard driving for a couple min. With the bmw oil my M5 would only just creep above the qtr line on temp gauge. Anyone know reason for this?

I want to say i agree with your observation, I switched from 0w40 mobile 1 to 0w40 LM and noticed a bit higher temp and quicker warm up time. But can't say why this would be the case.

I believe this has to do with the liquidation. Different oils react to different situations. I personally went with 5W-40.

The new BMW 5w-30 is actually a very good oil. Excellent TBN, a very low volatility or Noack of around 6, (evient of a very good base stock which we believe is Shell's GTL product.) The BMW 0w-30 is more interested in fuel economy and the BMW 5w-30 will protect your motor better. If the oil you're using has a double digit Noack, there are better oils out there to be had.

I just don't like the way my oil temp gauge goes higher than I've ever seen it go before. Even when cruising on 95 at 80mph. I always thought the cooler the engine the better for it and better for power?

I wouldn't be happy with that and would go back to the oil I was satisfied with. The 0-30 Edge titanium that I use stays just above the quarter dot mark.

See mine used to only hit above the quarter mark after hard driving and go just below after a min or 2. The molly seems eve when cruising at 75-80 mph to go just above the quarter mark and old BMW oil would touch or be just under the mark when cruising. But liquid molly is supposed to be a great oil I though? Just made me take note of the higher running temp and just don't like that
