First dealer visit tomm!

Hi forum. As you guys know, i just bought my first BMW ever! A sweet F10 M5. And i guess im suffering from infamous "pulling to right" issue.

So made appt tomm at BMW FREMONT. SA is Nick Lal ( heard lots of good things about him here).

They quoted me $240 for allignment. Local shop said $80

Anything in particular i should ask for or mention ? Taking the 15 M5 with 13,500 miles on it to dealer. Any help would be appreciated.

If local shop offering full alignment check\adj front and rear then why take it to three times as dear dealer for what may have been a kerb whack before.

Who told you this?
I've owned nearly a dozen BMWs and have never had any alignment issues.

Wait wait wait.....your tire was causing your car to pull to the right?
What was the reasoning behind this?

It could happen if the steel shifted from long term storage or just a defect, although very very rare.

When I had my car aligned after my KW install it pulled a little to the right. It drove me nuts, I read online and did some research. Something with the way the specs are which compensate for the crown in our roads. I noticed certain roads made it more noticeable. Went back to the shop who did the install and alignment. They went over everything and changed some settings, forgot exactly what he changed, car drives perfectly straight now, no pull. And on the alignment print out it was within bmw spec.

When they showed me the front tires... the right one is worn out bit more than left one. So bmw
Forman said its the tire. Alignment isnt the issue he said. He said replace the right tire or both front tires ... a $700 option lol and it should drive straight...

Not to mention this pull only happens at speeds above 35 mph. Under 35-40ish... its straight. When it pulls to the right. The steering doesnt rotate.. the car just goes towards the right ... at this point. $200 for bmw allignment spent... now $700 two new front Pirelli tires... and hoping it will go straight

Was the tire he showed you that he claimed was bad, was it worn on the inside only, outside only?

Tire thread was less than tire on the left. So the right was worn out more than left

Just trying to see if you have a camber issue or toe issue which caused the tire to wear that way. Don't want you to wear a new set too:

History showed tires being mounted twice. Rears are new. And front left looks newer than right. When foreman looked at the tire on front right, he said it had a production date of 2015.. meaning its still the same one that rolled out factory with car. As car is 2015 model. I bought the car 2 weeks back from a non BMW dealer with 13k miles on it.
So i guess they never replaced the right front tire. But did replace the rear and right left. Thus causing car to steer towards right im assuming. I guess we will find out when the new front shoes are one

Just a thought if you have the ability to do so, swap the front wheels and see if it still pulls to right.
I might even ask them to do it if not to prove that.
Also, never order tires from the dealership. Tirerack.com is usually where I order tires from.

Watching grass grow now,I'd just replace the worn o/s/f right. Why replace both fronts when n/s/f left is ok,waste of money.

One more thing, if there was actually no adjustment made, just the check, then should be free of charge.Charges should only apply when nuts are undone and turned.
