BMW Connected Apps
Just curios how many people are going to be ordering this for their M5's? It is really worth the $250? I assume the internet features use the wireless data packages on the actual iPhone? If using Pandora, via BMW Connected Apps, wouldnt that rack up the data usage?

My take on the Apps is that they are not that useful. Facebook is interesting only to those with a lot of friends posting updates. I think the new naturally speaking subscription feature will make Facebook more useful for those types because you will be able to post by voice. It's not something you would use while driving in the alps, but in traffic, maybe. The web radio is very cool, but if you are an audiophile, the bitrate is not good enough.

If you want to take advantage of Nuance's new Dragon Drive messaging
get BMW connected apps. Looks to be a very popular feature. iPhone users should also be able to use Siri when the new iOS6 comes out this Fall and will not need Dragon Drive. http://www.slashgear.com/nuance-and-...ging-09237665/ |

I have Apps on my M3 and while I can see the appeal of Web Radio, I'm personally not into it. Twitter and Facebook have no place in any car IMHO, never mind an M car, and I don't subscribe to MOG, so that leaves Pandora. Pandora integration IS pretty slick, and unfortunately if you DON'T get Apps, controlling Pandora is unreliable when connected via USB, and you don't get extended controls like switching stations, rating and bookmarking songs, album art, etc. Bluetooth Audio control is solid, but it only allows you to skip tracks, plus it doesn't sound as good and doesn't let you charge your phone while using it (Bluetooth Audio is disabled for devices while they're connected to USB). So for me I paid $250 for reliable Pandora controls and future proofing in case BMW actually does something cool with this functionality. Not a whole lot of value for $250 if you ask me, but not much compared to the cost of the car either. I don't think I'd get it again myself, though if I used Pandora more frequently, I might. Hell, I seldom even use the stereo since I'm often in my car to enjoy the drive and thus would rather listen to the engine.

My understanding is Spotify uses approx .7MB per minute on the lower quality streaming and 1.2MB per minute on the higher quality streaming. I think Pandora is about the same. I allowed my pandora one subscription to expire, I'm using spotify 100% now. I appreciate the feature which allows you to store music from the spotify library locally on your phone.
