Correct Replacement battery?
Got enough indication that the current battery is dying. While attempting to replace it, I realized that the car does not have the correct battery at this time.
Where can i find the correct specs? Thank you in advance. Car Production date: 2013-09-19 Engine: S63T |

If it's the wrong battery you have then you're better off going to dealer and let them supply and code it in as some spec lists may be incorrect. It's not cheap but you get that BMW guarantee of the correct battery being installed.

I got this one 5 months ago, and it was $40 cheaper then, thanks Joe. Registered it with the full version of Bimmerlink, no issues.

Agree that would be the best solution, yet most expensive route. I reached out to the SA at the dealership for a quote with installation. They are running a $30 coupon.

Batteries plus and Napa has same specs but much more expensive. I have bimmercode (and not bimmerlnk). I wonder if bimmercode has the registering capability. Next question I have is whether registering will be complicated since I will be installing a different battery (with correct spec) than what is now installed in the car (wrong spec). |

The battery just arrived home via UPS. Have put it on the ctek trickle charger. Production date is 4/23 so getting fully should not take long.

Has been two days since the installation of the new battery. So far so good, car seems to be happier.
I registered the battery by downloading bimmerlink for $45 and then used bimmercode to check on the amp hr (which was already set to 105 amp hr). The car had 95 amp hr battery for the last two years, replaced by previous ownership. That would mean my alternator was not charging the 95 amp hr battery correctly and was out of sync. |

Finally heard back from the service advisor from the dealer. He mentioned that they need to scan the car in order to tell which battery is the correct one. I pulled my build spec from vin decoder. |

Glad to see you have sorted out the battery replacement. Be sure to get an agm charger, they're designed to charge both types. Ive been using noco 5 with great results.

If you have any tools…I would recommend NOT going to your local BMW dealerships SERVICE dept. Just go to the PARTS department and check for pricing.
I just replaced the battery in my f06 in January and my local BMW dealership had the best price for the 105AH AGM battery. They were only asking $236 whereas the aftermarket H9 batteries were between $240-$340…and all of them were 100AH except for Batteries Plus…which was the most expensive. With my BMW CCA discount, local taxes, and $18 core refund…I was out the door for $227. And as mentioned above, if you have the Bimmerlink app, you can register the new battery in less than a minute. If you need to code the battery due to replacing the battery with a different type of AH rating…then you will need to CODE the battery change (you can use Bimmercode for that). The BMW battery also came with a new little black elbow (that connects the vent tube to the battery) as well as an extra plug to insert into the vent hole on the other side of the battery to prevent any off gases from leaking out into the enclosed battery compartment. Only posting to recommend to inquire at your local BMW dealerships PARTS DEPARTMENT if you don’t need someone else to install the battery. You may be able to get a better deal…especially if you’re a BMW CCA member….and some may even price match or lower the cost if you can show a better deal someplace else.

The parts department at the dealership quoted me $300 for the 105 amp hr. I would assume at least $200 additional for labor to install with the BMW service.
These batteries are manufactured by few companies and supplied to different places with the sticker on the top depending where it is going to. The one I got came with all the vent adapters. With core the battery would ultimately cost me.$220, tax included. Even after paying $45 for the bimmerlink, it is still much cheaper out the door. Plus I get to play around with the app for other features like ASD off! |
