The problem with the E92 M3 GTS was the price- equivalent to over $150000. Great car but in this price range you can take your pick of better dedicated track/ street cars. If I'm spending that sort of money the GTS is not even on my radar.

However, lighten the car drastically and give it an up rated S85 V10 rather than an S55 with power bump and now you're talking a very special car that might be worth the cash.

As we saw in Evo´s trackbattle between Carrera and M4, the M4 understeer oftenly. I think it is for safety reasons, M4 is not a track focused car as much than Carrera. There is room for GTS- model.

not gonna happen. with that said there will of course be one and a competion package too since the current car leaves room for those. Bmw as grown into a very cynical company - like all others in fairness it just leads them - they sell what is supposed to be its best product, dial it down on purpose in order to sell you a 5 - 7 k pack a few months latter

There is only confirmation that the M4 GTS will exist, like the E46 M3 CSL and E92 M3 GTS before it.

We didn't receive those versions either.

I vote for an M3/4 lightweight. Track focused with minimal driveline and chassis changes, but much more basic/light configuration, a little less luxury and on a modest price bump a la the E36.

The E92 M3 GTS was initially offered to BMW North America at the same time as the 1er M Coupe but they rejected on the grounds that no one would buy such a car without its luxuries. Something BMW still comes up against in the US Market today.
In which federalisation cost is not viable if only to sell only a few units.

I have no idea if the M4 GTS will come to the USA or remain Europe and Asia only, I do know that a strategy exists for the car of which all details and schematics are not fully known just rumours still waiting to be confirmed along with the next M5 , M6 , returning to an all new V10 , The X1 M with 330PS and and the addition of a G31 M5 Touring due to strong sales of the Audi RS6 Avant in Continental Europe.

The X1 M ... Performance?! I can see here the engine from M235i with a little tune.
V10 TT for next M5/ M6.. Maybe in 2,5 to 3 years for sale.
What about the engine for M2?
As for M4 GTS we'll see an increase of ~30PS.. The most important thing here is the weight savings

I'll believe a new V10 in the G-generation M5 and M6 when I see it.

If it happens, I hope that opens the way for the return of a V8 in the G-M3 and M4.

(And yes, I did read the report of BMW pondering an I4 in the next M3/M4).

I'd be first in line for another V8 M3. The sound, the feel, A V8 is something special.

No way BMW ever builds another NA engine.

Let's hope the new GTS has both performance and good looks. The E46 CSL was a great looking overall package / car. The E92 GTS not so much.

+1

...but I bet in time the limited status of the GTS would help with long term value.

So, does BMW NA employ clowns on purpose or are they really this incompetent?

Not really. C2S is faster and going by the reviews a better drivers car.

The new M4 GTS is going to have to better than the regular M4 by leaps and bounds for it to even have a fighting chance against a GT3.
Agreed!

I agree with you. Just trying to play a little devil's advocate. The 991 is a pretty special car.
Didn't the GT3's catch fire early on?
Pretty special indeed!
