That's 100% ASD

That's why I've disabled it in the first place. I cannot tolerate fake engine/intake noises

i go against the grain here I quite like it, the engine doesn't sound like a standard V8 because of the complex intake impulses and exhaust configuration; the sound from the woofers is at the least mildly interesting. What next from the M dept

Fit an exhaustmeister to open the flaps at all times, it sounds a lot better

Got one already came with the car and prefer the remote control for opening of the flaps. I see you bought one recently how are you getting on with it,was the fitting straight forward?

Fitting took about 10 mins and was straightforward, I like the fact that you can actually hear you have a V8 instead of it being muted.

Not sure if the Comp Pack exhaust is different to a non-Comp Pack car but it sounds good

Think the CP exhaust is a tad more rorty so I have read.
On a side note how is your brake disc swap going.

Once they are run you'll get that sharp response from them that new M's have.

I suggest you give it a shot and drive the car at least 500 miles without ASD. You'll fall in love. You'll be able to hear different sounds from the engine.

I can always disconnect it in the boot and give it a try, maybe I will.

This was 100% NOT ASD. I had the noise with it unplugged, coded out, everything.

Never found out what it was the car was totaled a week after that video

Was definitely a mechanical issue that was starting

Thank you for the info, mine whines when it is cold out when I rev it just slightly on a cold start. Sounds like an old Chevy power steering with low fluid.

I don’t have the whine like in the video in 3rd gear high speed though.

It isn’t a horrible whine but not what you would expect from a bmw.

I’ll check out the tensioner.
