Review: Coding from Alex @ Alpine - ALL Features ~$100 A+
Just had my M5 coded by Alex @ Alpine MS!
He did my M3 coding and then added Euro DCT / MDM to my m3 for like $150 when others were charging $500+. He has years of experience and is truly an expert in the field. He coded everything discussed in this forum including the anti glare dazzle high beam assist only found on European models. He has been offering this feature for a very long time. Alex will ship out a cable to you and all you do is plug it into your computer and car. He remotely accesses the computer to do the coding and you just sit back and wait. Doesn't get any easier than that Oh yeah...he also charges half of what other coders charge...sometimes even a fraction. You pay $155 including the cable and you get $50 back upon returning the cable. $105 for unlimited options, sweet deal! I can't even begin to imagine how many cars he's done. Nice! I know a couple guys used to do free coding but now charge $200-$500. Alex is very talented.
These anti glare dazzle high beams are so sick. Worth the price right there if you do any night driving.

I'm not sure if the anti dazzle feature is available with the non-led lights but after coding with the led lights its awesome. As far as I know v12 was the first sponsor to offer this specific feature. You can find out more about it here.

Thank you Nik! Your the best. I do coding for F series for $100 because I feel that pricing is both comfortable for the consumer, and me as the vendor. Others charge up to $1000, is that overkill? I have no clue, I do however remember people spending maybe $400 on a module and chopping up their door wires in order to have windows up & down with their key.

When you code for Dazzle-Free you are using the same method used on the previous E8X chassis when those guys where changing the beam pattern to EU spec. I followed that method listed years ago for my vehicle when I first got it, and it enabled the Dazzle-Free feature. It is the same exact thing. I have a F32 with LED package. |

What's up Alex - Dazzle free didn't exist in its current implementations and the F32 went into production in 2013. You mentioned years ago so you are talking about the E chassis. Adaptive lights are one thing but the dazzle free high beam assistant concept is new.
You've been around for sure. We are fortunate we are able to do these things to our cars. |

BMW adds VO's which enables/disables coding features inside the modules 8S4 has been around for many years, removal of 8S4 activates EU Spec lighting, "Decoding of Variable Lighting." You can do it on some E8X, E7X and some E9X even. With the introduction of newer lighting introduced the VO 5AP Decoding for dazzle free high beams (decoding, meaning removal.) When I coded a X6 with LED lighting to remove 8S4, it did not work, so with a simple VIN decoding I saw 5AP, removed 5AP and the beam changed right away, left side lifted up, and it was good to go. Later on when I received my car back in September 2013, I did the same for my vehicle and noticed the lights doing something strange. Couple google searches I found out what it was, Euro Spec cars have different high beam assist then us. 5AP has been around on 2013 X6s and some F01s, not just 2014. You can keep saying it does not exist, sure, but it is the same exact thing as switching over to Euro Spec. No different. You just remove the proper VO's and code entire car. |

It is obvious you were referring to VO coding. The method is not in question.
However, the "EU spec lighting" is not the same thing as the Dazzle-free High-Beam Assistance in its current *new* implementation. That's new tech. Removing 5AP and 8S4 in an older car is not all takes to achieve the same result as doing it in current ones though it may look like the lights are doing something funny - the hardware/ programmed behavior is not the same. What if the car doesn't have one of the two windshield mounted cam variants besides? I am unsubscribing from this thread so I may not see any further posts. |

If 5AP is not present, then the mounted camera and other equipment would not be present also, 5AP relates to cars that are equipped with the correct equipment, so that feature inside the equipment is disabled. If I understand correctly, V12 is saying that changing VO is not sufficient to activate the Dazzle free lighting, and Alex is saying it is. The only way to be sure is for you to tell us what you are experiencing when you use your Dazzle Free high beam. Are you able to drive past another car with the high-beam on (not just in auto-highbeam mode, but with the blue high beam light on while you drive past the other car in auto high-beam mode). Here's a video. Is this what you are seeing?

Even on the highways I will find it just lighting up a sign way on the right hand side for example and nothing else. Anyone's more than welcome to come join me for a ride if you wish to see! Just realized my state isn't listed. Somerset County in New Jersey.
Off topic but... Nice radar/laser equipment! I'm a big laser / radar guy and just upgraded from having a windshield mounted Escort 9500 & Blinder 905 3 Head setup on my M3 to the STIR + Radar and the new Antilaser Priority (ALP) 5 head jammer. The LI Quad HP is an awesome setup too! Not sure how much you are into it (judging from your equipment I assume quite a bit!) but the ALP is making a big splash in the scene. It has been able to successfully JTG a couple guns that have been giving the Blinder 905 (latest firmware) and LI big problems. I'm jealous of your frozen grey exterior! Frozen grey & frozen black are the two best colors on this car IMO. More so frozen grey with the size of the car. On an M3 my preference is reversed. I got too good of a lease deal on the lot to pass up. My previous M3 was space grey so at least it's a bit of a change. If you don't yet have the Euro Dazzle high beams I cannot recommend them enough. Absolutely amazing. In my area we have a lot of deer and it's so nice to know the maximum possible lighting is being used at all times.

This method was used by 1 series members to change their beam pattern to Euro Spec, same steps, just with the LEDs there is one extra VO to remove. The cars shipped to the US BMW adds a couple VOs to block this feature in the US, you can take those same VOs add it to a Euro Spec car and they will lose this feature. In a nutshell what I am trying to explain, this is simply changing regions on a vehicle, US to Euro for the lights. |

Nice setup though. I'm also into this stuff. I have my own Kustom Prolite+ for testing. I already have the no dazzle beams - V12 coded for me last December. I was just curious in the difference of methodology. The way Alex did it is quite interesting IMO. I'm wondering if this releases other Euro mode settings at the same time like deleting the orange Nader light.
