R888Rs on TSW Bathurst with KW HAS

I could not find a tire shop that would mount a 315/30 on a 10” 343 wheel, so I ended up ordering a set of TSW Bathursts. The rears are 10.5” wide with an offset of et25. BTW...the required wheel width for 315s is 10.5-11.5”.

I searched every post that included R888 before pulling the trigger. Others have done this same setup but it was difficult to find conclusive info about the potential for rubbing. Now that the tires are mounted and wheels installed, I have learned R888Rs mounted on this wheel will rub on a lowered car but only on the biggest road dips and then only very slightly. I’m certain 1-1.5 degrees of negative camber will eliminate the rubbing, so now I need to find an good alignment shop. In the meantime, will raise the rear a few mm’s. The R888Rs do hook when my PS4Ss would not, which was the whole point of this experiment. You can see the beginning of rub marks from the edge of the fender lip in the last pic. I’m guessing if this tire was mounted on a 343 wheel (with et34) the tires would not rub.

Thanks for this info very helpful as I will be mounting 888r on aftermarket wheels soon after running them on stocks for awhile

So the rubbing is very minor? On et25?

Yes...very minor. I only have driven about 100 miles so far and heard a rub a few times. The contact with the rear fender is on the inside edge of the fender lip so I'm not too worried about damage to the paint, but I'm sure over time the paint on the inside of the wheel lip would get worn where the tire is making contact. I may not mess with the camber if raising the HAS on the rear a few millimeters solves the problem.

Do you think a 11” ET28 would work?

Thanks

ET 28 will move the wheel out another 3mm. Not sure if the wider 11 rim with a 315 tire will bring the tire in enough to clear the lip. Probably ok if your not lowered more than a 1/2”. My car was lowered 1”, but had to raise it a 1/2” to eliminate the occasional rub.
